Autopush help

Postby NewsDude » Sat Mar 28, 2020 5:32 am

Hey, where do you get a copy of the more advanced autopush system? The one used with the 777 in flightgear.

I'm trying to add it to an old copy of the MD-11X that I found on my computer.

I am not sure it is the same that is used on the 777, but this FlightGear wiki article is probably a good starting point: Howto:Implement pushback (permalink)
Low-level flying — It's all fun and games till someone looses an engine. (Paraphrased from a YouTube video)
Improving the Dassault Mirage F1 (Wiki, Forum, GitLab. Work in slow progress)

You can find all files and documentation in this topic. Autopush is quite different than the default pushback. Implementation isn't so difficult, just be sure to read the documentation carefully.

Added a page about Autopush on the FlightGear wiki: Autopush (permalink). (Largely based on the August 2018 Newsletter)

Okay, so I'm trying to follow the directions but I don't know the coordinates of the front wheel.

Where in the aircraft directory would they be located?

It would be in the XML file with the FDM. Depending on which FDM the aircraft you are going to modify one of these FlightGear wiki articles would probably be a good starting point:

@Johan and @Isaak,

Thank you for helping me out with this. I'm wanting to try and start developing my own aircraft and I figured that attempting to modify an already developed plane would be a good place to start.

From my own experience, starting to improve an existing plane is indeed a good way to learn fast ;) Good luck and feel free to ask any questions you have!
