Hi all and merry Christmas, some relative big news coming up here. Because Josh (Octal450) has long left FG, as you all know, and quite sure there won't be a chance to see him around again, at least for the foreseeable future, I've decided to pick up where he left with the IDG-A33X and try my best to continue on a spare time bases the Airbus A330. I've put a lot of hard work in the very early stages of its development, helping since it was still being named "Article-x" in order to conceal what me, him and later a handful of others were working on, giving it a shape that then continued till its progress was halted. Because I've been so involved at the beginning, in particular regarding the inclusion of the MRTTs, I feel responsible for trying to keep up the work that was put into it by continuing its development as I think it's right to get it back on track and avoid letting all the hard work fall somehow incomplete and stopped. The continuation of the project will happen under a new name (as per Josh's will) and my personal Git from now on. I've therefore changed folder and a/c names so it won't have any conflicts with the existing IDG-A33X. Of course, I can't promise huge features like IDG or a constant workload on it since it doesn't fall within my biggest priorities in terms of development, but I want to commit to keeping it alive and active.
Here's the link for it: https://github.com/JMaverick16/Airbus_A330
Me and Legoboy (the current maintainer of the former IDG-A32X, now A320-Family) are in touch and he's already a collaborator on the A330 Git repo. We will try at best to keep the two aircraft synced in terms of new features and bug fixes but it will definitely take some time as the A320 took a different path and kept being worked on. Of course any contribution is welcome!
For now I've implemented upgrades in the fields that first came up to my mind and in order to have a common standard between the various plane planes I'm working on, for example, a standard improved contrail simulation, advanced sound effects for rain, ground roll, ambiance, etc. New liveries for Lufthansa, Air Italy and LEVEL have already been included.
Of course, now it's Holiday time so I'm not expecting too many things to happen, probably I'll get things rolling a bit more somewhere in the second week of January.
Thanks for your attention happy flying and holidays!
Cheers, Mav
