Airbus_A330 development (based on IDG-A33X)

Postby J Maverick 16 » Wed Dec 25, 2019 10:42 pm

Hi all and merry Christmas, some relative big news coming up here. Because Josh (Octal450) has long left FG, as you all know, and quite sure there won't be a chance to see him around again, at least for the foreseeable future, I've decided to pick up where he left with the IDG-A33X and try my best to continue on a spare time bases the Airbus A330. I've put a lot of hard work in the very early stages of its development, helping since it was still being named "Article-x" in order to conceal what me, him and later a handful of others were working on, giving it a shape that then continued till its progress was halted. Because I've been so involved at the beginning, in particular regarding the inclusion of the MRTTs, I feel responsible for trying to keep up the work that was put into it by continuing its development as I think it's right to get it back on track and avoid letting all the hard work fall somehow incomplete and stopped. The continuation of the project will happen under a new name (as per Josh's will) and my personal Git from now on. I've therefore changed folder and a/c names so it won't have any conflicts with the existing IDG-A33X. Of course, I can't promise huge features like IDG or a constant workload on it since it doesn't fall within my biggest priorities in terms of development, but I want to commit to keeping it alive and active.

Here's the link for it: https://github.com/JMaverick16/Airbus_A330

Me and Legoboy (the current maintainer of the former IDG-A32X, now A320-Family) are in touch and he's already a collaborator on the A330 Git repo. We will try at best to keep the two aircraft synced in terms of new features and bug fixes but it will definitely take some time as the A320 took a different path and kept being worked on. Of course any contribution is welcome!

For now I've implemented upgrades in the fields that first came up to my mind and in order to have a common standard between the various plane planes I'm working on, for example, a standard improved contrail simulation, advanced sound effects for rain, ground roll, ambiance, etc. New liveries for Lufthansa, Air Italy and LEVEL have already been included.
Of course, now it's Holiday time so I'm not expecting too many things to happen, probably I'll get things rolling a bit more somewhere in the second week of January.
Thanks for your attention happy flying and holidays!
Cheers, Mav

grazie jMaverick16 :)

I am sure you will be an excellent continuator of the project! It is a plane with a very interesting FDM and systems management, I hope that the friends of the group will also give you a hand to improve 3D. In FGFS it is always more beautiful to have well-made airplane projects, like flight, but also graphics and realism of operation.

Seem like the "parking brake" is locked on in the most recent model! the wheel chocks are on in config when startup & even when take them off plane still won't move & park brake won't turn off. kindly check please.

Wheel chocks are on in config at startup & even when I remove them, plane still won't move & then the park brake won't turn off either .

I am aware of that bug and I'm working to fix that now. Thanks for reporting! It's been introduced with the newly added ground services which are still a WIP feature.

Latest updates include some work by merspieler back-ported from the A320 concerning radios, autopush, ground services and more.
I've done further work to ground services which now include the ability to load a desired fuel quantity thanks to the fuel truck.
There are also a few more liveries done by Spectre and SXSA.
It's really a beauty to fly!

Today I've done further improvements to the A330 including some features like the flap lever sound from the A320-family, further sound fixes and other improvements.
As soon as legoboy's work with the MCDU is finished in the A320 it will be ported over as well.
I hope you guys enjoy flying it!

Nice to see my getting ported.

I just hope, that this plane doesn't get bloated with liveries like currently the B777 is. I'm bringin this up cause I can already see a tendency. See me post on the mailing list on alternatives.

There aren't plans on adding many more right now. I've commissioned the ones that were of more interest like the new Lufthansa and others but we are complete unless some other worthy come up.
