Reverted to 2018.3 and it worked perfectly right down to landing. So same route and this time in 2019.1 started off as before took off switched to Nav mode. Put on VS plane ascended got to preferred altitude and pressed ALT which activated but it didn't stop. I then thought it would ascend to Route Manager preset altitude in this case 4000ft. However it went past that and once again didn't stop then again no buttons worked.

It seems to be related to VS settings but why it works in 2018 version, and previously worked fine 2019 but appears to have changed since the last plane update. I am simply putting forward my thoughts.

As an aside the G5 doesn't switch on in 2018. Also Live weather still doesn't work in that version (perhaps an associated glitch). Unfortunately I uninstalled Josh's version so can't try that.

I really don't see how it could be in any way related to JSBSIM... the autopilot controller is in Nasal; so unless something else changed in Nasal then it can hardly be to do with changes in how JSBSim initializes?

I presume you have no console errors.

I am running out of ideas. Flew again this time never even got past switching on VS after Switched to Nav mode. So I decided to uninstall and re-install. Guess what it wouldn't let me uninstall either in the downloaded aircraft section or in the Aircraft catalogue. Other planes did. Is this connected to the difficulty I had installing the latest update when I had to do it from the update tab and not the leaded planes tab on PA 28 Can I have a full link to the plane and try to resolve it that way.

No I haven't although when I loaded latest update it wouldn't let me using the update button to the left of the aircraft download banner. I posted the message earlier in thread. I had to update from the header tabs. Now the plane won't allow me to uninstall either from the plane tab or in browser list. I thought if I could install a clean version it may solve the issue but I have no idea where I will find now it's not IDG.

You can delete the folder of the aircraft and reinstall it that way. Should hopefully work?

It doesn't necessarily have to relate to JSBSim - it can be a different regression, or it can be a regression that also happens to affect JSBSim,... But the fact that it does work fine in 2018.3 and has the same phenomenology as what I and eatdirt are seeing is pretty interesting.

I can't uninstall it, it won't let me as I said either in the loaded planes tab or the browser tab. It doesn't appear in the addons folder

Just open a file browser and wipe the folder. There's no need to use the launcher to do everything...

I didn't download it. It was uploaded to the site list presumably by D-Echo. So it won't appear in my browser anywhere, I've checked my FG Program folder.

If you didn't download it then solving that problem might be a better idea than trying to fix the autopilot... :P

I must admit I'm confused - if you didn't download it you wouldn't be able to launch FlightGear with it so how did you manage to even use the aircraft?

For what it's worth I can't reproduce this either.

The FG aircraft management is very simple - it checks for what you want to start in all folders defined as aircraft folders.

So if you want to add something, you can copy it into the folder via Windows Explorer, Gnome File Manager or whatever it is you're using to look at the content of your harddisk. If you want to remove something, you move the folder of the aircraft in question to trash.

The FG launcher (which displays the catalog and allows to automatically download and update) is a convenience tool - it is neither needed to install aircraft, nor can it force anyone to update aircraft, nor can it prevent you from deleting aircraft.

So just don't try to solve this via FG, use standard tools of your OS if FG doesn't play nice.

Well, you did see Shuttle oddities... so I wonder, any luck on that front? I suppose it's a higher-level stress test.

I downloaded the plane when it was by Josh. When the update came into the FG list in the sim I deleted Josh's one. Then there have been 2 updates in the update menu which I downloaded, one the most recent wouldn't update from installed planes. So I installed from the UPdate tab. Hope you now understand. Each plane has a tab that says uninstall it returns it to the browser page (list of planes. It won't do this. I don't know how else I can explain this.

'The FG launcher (which displays the catalog and allows to automatically download and update) is a convenience tool - it is neither needed to install aircraft, nor can it force anyone to update aircraft, nor can it prevent you from deleting aircraft.' Clearly it does because that is what is happening both cases. When I couldn't update when I tried to set the plane and fly it tells you there is an update and you can't move on. As I said it won't let me delete.

So it seems I have two choices, only free fly in 2019.1 or use 2018.3 with AP working but no live weather and G5 doesn't switch on.
