Hello, all

It seems like this project has garnered some attention!

I've been working on the FDM and other files while I wait for that great model by Patrizio.

Not a whole lot of stuff got done in the last few days, but I'm finally back to work :D

Hello,
In recent weeks I have been very busy and I have not been able to make much progress. For the record, this model was created exactly the first of January 2001 (yep!) As soon as I can and when I can consider it as a ready-to-use 3D model I will upload it to my GIT account.

Kind regards

Patrizio.

I still have some details to fix. Soon I will upload the 3D model to GitHub. I'm not good at creating a decent FDM for this plane. And saying good I mean using maybe JSBSim. Josh knows how to do it better than me for sure and I trust on his help. I am offering this old 3D model under the GPL v2 license. It could come out a nice project ... Who knows.

In order to introduce the BUFF, in the ranks of the FlightGear simulator, I had to reduce the number of materials to only two. One for the opaque parts to which the related texture is associated and which I have already loaded. And another material for the transparent parts. This new UVmapping process has allowed me to give a fresh breath to this old 3D model. And I'm quite satisfied with it. There are many things that need to be implemented. Gears Modeling at the moment is rather poor in details. But it's enough to start the first tests. The BUFF modeling also in this case was performed using the Blender software in version 2.79b. From the blend file, the new .ac files necessary for the animations, including the interiors, will then be exported.

Looks like this huge plane is taking my brain. I can't wait for it to be complete and start flying. I spent the last few days implementing the basic structure with all the necessary files. The values printed in the files do not currently correspond to the final result that will come out in the future. The 3D model is not even present in the .ac format, but there is everything else. My 3D model in the .blend format "weighs" 1.5 Mb (circa), so I think that later on exporting it in .ac will be around 1.2 Mb or even less.

The 3D model (B-52H_Stratofortress.ac) has been uploaded and ready to use for the most parts. Other details will be added for sure in the near future.

At the moment the Buff starts the splash screen then crash few seconds later. The whole job needs a totally rework and I'm not really good with JSBSim. The 3D model itself still miss decent Interiors, instruments and so on...

B-52H Build Thread

Postby F-GTUX » Tue Sep 03, 2019 8:49 pm

Hello,
Some changes with a basic FDM and a few animations. Still a lot to do, this is just a little contribution to encourage further work on this great model we are given. Thank you Patrizio!

I downloaded your package. But I haven't see your upgrades yet...
Lately I developed totally new mesh for engines and gear too.

The repository for this craft actualy lies on GitHub.
Every upgrade I make to this plane can be found at this link -> https://github.com/cobe571/B-52H_Stratofortress
Soon I'll look at your code.
Thank you very much for the effort and your appreciation.

Kind regards,

Patrizio.
