I do not understand the problem? 1000 flying hours are good test.

I downloaded the aircraft from http://pattenflightgear.wifeo.com/cessna-citationx.php and I can't get the engines started. Is there a trick to that?
Ubuntu 18.04
fgfs v2018.3.1

I've modified the "stock" CitationX to correct a lot of the bugs. Haven't worked all of them out yet.

That was the first thing I tried. Everything comes to life, but the engines don't start.

Then I tried a startup by the checklist. The engines will not start.

Is there a different version for Linux? If so, why?

surfertim: no, there is no separate craft version for different OSes... what airport are you trying to start at? if it is a high altitude airport, that may be hampering the autostart code...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

No. Almost sea level. KSFO.

My Citation does fine. Starts right up.

i've only flown the citationX available in the FG hanger... earlier today i was watching one landing and taking off at KSFO... i was able to see the model so i assume it was the same one i have installed but that may not be a valid assumption... i don't know how the one you found on that site compares with the one in FG's hanger (aka fgaddon)...

The one in fgaddon is an older version - the Patten team has much improved versions (would be nice to have then merged back but they seem to prefer not...?), and they typically work fine. I got autostart to work no problem.

Maybe if FlightGear is paused autostart will not work...?

If you saw N2ST at KSFO, that is my modified CitationX. It isn't stock. I've made a few mods to make it flyable.

Maybe the one I downloaded has a dead battery? lol

Edit: It's mot a dead battery. I didn't notice this yesterday. The terminal throws an error. I'll take a look at it.
Code: Select all

Edit2: I got it working. It was my fault. My Citation was the problem. Actually, it flies quite good. I'm flying it to KLAX right now.

That is a great flying aircraft! I have only two requests:
1) When changing altitude, I want to be able to adjust the rate of descent. I can change that myself if necessary.
2) Instrument panel switch lights. I fly a lot at night. The lack of panel switch lights is disturbing.
If these are already implemented, please be so kind as to enlighten me.

Otherwise, well done!

I answer to SuferTim question:
I program the CDU of the flight.
Altitude is programmed. Descent also correct pilot lights according to the time.

Are you talking about the Route Manager altitudes at each fix?
How do I activate backlights for the panel switches?

Edit: I'm not complaining. That is one fine flying aircraft. It just became my fav. :)
