aermacchi MB 339 HSI

Postby dilbert » Sun Dec 23, 2018 7:25 pm

The compass card of the HSI does not rotate to show
compass heading at the rhumb line-it remains frozen
at whatever heading it read at start on runway.

It should rotate clockwise when the plane turns left and counterclockwise when the plane turns right.

As a result, pilot is forced to rely on HUD only for magnetic
heading. :(

On runway 14 at KBFM it read 320, where it remained
during flight. On 03 at KNPA, it read 260, where it also
remained during flight.

Sure wish it could be fixed; otherwise, the MB-339 is a great model.

Best Regards

AAH. Got it fixed. See my post in flying: "fixed my Aermacchi-MB-339 hsi" for details. Hope an author or maintainer will update the fgaddon hangar version. :) Best Regards

Sorry, but thats the wrong fix. I have now investigated the HSI and this avionic is suction driven.
I dont know, if this is the correct type on that aircraft, but the problem is that the engine have no 'rpm' value.
Start the original version from FGaddon, open the property browser and navigate to '/engines/engine'.
You will find a (string) property named 'rpm' with no value. Set the value to '2500' and the HSI will rotate.
You will also see that the property '/instrumentation/heading-indicator/spin' increase the value up to 1.0 .

Thanks. My fix might be the wrong one; but it worked perfectly on the Aeromacchi hsi. It employs the same rotational property as the bearing-bug, which made some sense to me. A shortcut perhaps, but accomplished the objective, as a practical matter.
Best Regards

P.S. My original post on this problem "Aermacchi RMI frozen" was on September 13, 2016. Was just glad to find any way to get it to work. :)
