Just an old Fokker, the M.7.

From earlier in the Great War, the lesser known and renowned Fokker M.7. Also known as the B.I in the Austrian Air service.

It was a two seater-trainer and small army liaison aircraft used by both Germany and Austria from early 1915 'til March 1916, when the Entente forces started fielding better equipped and armed fighters. It was most known for it's role early in the Austrian/Italian Alps front as a nimble observation aircraft.

Flown unarmed, it relied upon it's lightness and ease of operations from any small field for a quick assessment of the ground situation. It was soon relegated to training duties early in 1916. It's a fuselage stretched, two place M.5, ( predecessor of the Eindekker.) with the 80 hp Oberusal U.0 (and possibly had a 100 H.P. variant. With it's additional wing wing area due to it's biplane wings, it had good climbing ability on it's limited engine power. The upper wing used wing warping for roll control, full flying stabivators, and rudder made it very maneuverable, if not all that fast. It was well liked by the Austrian crews, and was also made as a floatplane for the German naval service as a long ranged coast patrol aircraft.
