Now overhauling aerodynamics.

Next will be pneumatics.

Status update:
Taking a bit of a break from general dev. MD-11 updates will probably appear though if I get time/bored
Also, fixed MD-11 VC Lighting, sorry for that error! Now they work again, power by electrical system

Hi there,

Here are some questions-suggestions:

1) How can I calculate MD11X's perfomance (take off and landing speeds), according to the specific weather conditions as well as payload? Is there an app I can download from the Internet? Or even a mathematical type?

2) I've noticed that MD11X is not equiped with speed references. I mean the audio messages from the aircraft's system during take off. How easy is to add it?? It would be nice having it.

3) How can I set the elevator trim properly for take off? Which is the key to do it?

4) Is on your plans to add FMC to MD11X?

5) Apart from EAD, is it possible to add some additional displays in the future?

6) I've also noticed I cannot pull down seat's arms, both on captain's and first officer's seat. What's wrong with them?

Kind regards,
George

Hi George:
1) Not that I know of yet, I set the default V2 for the default weights, so I'd rotate at around 155 or so.
2) The MD-11 does not call V1 or such like the Airbus' do. Maybe I'll add it as an option using my voice or something later
3) same as any plane, 1 and 7, but if you plan on using keyboard and not joystick for this, you need to turn on "Keyboard mode" in Aircraft Config
4) Yes. The 3D is already complete thanks to legoboyvdlp
5) Yes! The Systems Display will come next, and an MD-11 style navigation display will be added once the FMS is somewhat functional
6) I don't know, but I will check it out sometime.

Thanks for your input!

Kind Regards,
Josh

You're welcome! I'd really like to contribute in a greater extent but I don't have the appropriate knowledge to do so. You know, programming, designing and stuff like this..

Anyways, some additional notes on your answers:

1) Setting performance based on default weights and weather conditions and rottating always at 155-160 knots is not quite realistic.. I'm sure you have the same stand on this issue! So, it would be nice if anyone could provide us with a good performance tool. I can tell you that there's TOPCAT, a quite realistic and reliable software which calculates the performance of various aircrafts, including MD-11! It's payware, though.. So, any freeware alternatives to TOPCAT??

2) I didn't know that MD-11 doesn't have speed references. So, there's no really need to add them! You know, in order to be as close as possible to reality.

3) As for the elevator:

a) You didn't mentioned which is the appropriate setting for the elevator for take off. For example, for A320 is 0.9 degrees. What about MD-11? Also, there is no indicator for this. In A320 you can see to what degrees pitch trim is set on FCTRL display. How can I determine it on MD-11?

b) After some trials, I've realized this: when you press 1 or 7 on the keyboard, elevator works perfectly. But when you use your mouse to pull the elevator lever in the cockpit (the lever between parking brakes and speed brakes), it doesn't work. It centers automatically. Give it a look whenever you find some time.

Hi
1) as I said, I don't know of any tool. The FMS in the MD-11 gives you v-speeds when you fill it out, so once I simulate that, it will exist.
3) I will add the systems display soon. Then you can see it. Right now you can use the HUD, or if you are into property browsing, /fdm/jsbsim/hydraulics/stabilizer/final-deg

For the default weight, use about 4.5 or so

Kind Regards,
Josh

Hello,

I'd like to report a bug on PFD. All indications move quite slow and this makes handling the aircraft really hard.. I'm not sure but I think that this issue occured right after last update.

Kind regards,
George

Hi George,
Please check the DU Quality option in Aircraft Config. If you turn down the quality significantly, the update rate of the Display Unit is lowered. 1 is best quality, 5 is the best performance (FPS wise).

Kind Regards,
Josh

All armrests are fully functional now. Even at the engineer's seat... Cool!

Not engineer, jumpseat, MD-11 has no engineer.

Glad you like.

Fixed incorrect reset feedback causing AFS to sometimes put bad yoke commands on engaging AP1 or AP2.
