The S-TEC 55X now can follow GS, all the Auto-GS Arm, Manual capture, and disarm/rearm functionality has been added as per the Pilot Operating Handbook.

Cool.

Been really busy and did not get a chance to fly.
I will have a look at it, as soon as I get FG to work again. It out of the sudden stopped starting up. Gonna have to check if one of the latest updates for Linux is the culprit.

Cheers
Ben

Hi Ben.
The climb performance is now correct as per real life. I checked the C172 with the 180hp, it has a different prop thruster file, which is very very overpowered in my opinion -- maybe an upgrade was available to such a thing in real life, but I doubt it's stock.

Regardless, the Warrior's engine has custom system to prevent the JSBsim "overspinning" which happens for some reason -- and gives more power than the real...
So now it should be good. Don't know if it will pass your test with the hill, but it matches all the data I've recorded in real life (speed, alt, vert speed, pitch angle, and RPM)

I also added the plate in the cockpit with the aircraft number on it, and it changes based on the livery selected.

I also simulated the "dead-band" thing that happens at the upper end of throttle lever position, where the change in power is only very slight. Don't know why this is, but all 3 Warrior's I've flown in real life (161 models too, with both 160hp and 180hp engines) have this "dead-band".

Lego also added ALS lights, including functioning landing lights.

Hey,

looks like you have been - once again - really active.
I gonna take a look at FG to see if I take it out for a flight right now. Good news that power has been fixed.
Once I got to take it out, i will get back to you with some feedback.

As for the C172, it probably is not stock or it was added to make the default aircraft easier to fly with. Not sure. Or it might be something, that is especially made for floats and stuff like that. I have not seen or flown a C172 with 180HP engine in real life. Still with the regular C172 it is possible to cross the Avila as well. At least at some spots. Going westwards, which was the flight I tried with the Warrior back then, is possible to cross.

Great work, will get back to you shortly.

Cheers
Ben

Hi Ben,
Under the same prop, the 160 and 180hp have little changes. The 180 climbs a little faster, burns slightly more fuel. I guess it depends on your flight path.

Thanks. It's a nice break from pounding my head in working on the Airbus computers... lol

Looking forward to hear your thoughts,
Josh

as i recall the discussion in the c172p's development issues, the 180hp engine and prop change(?) are mainly for the pontoon and amphibious variants... they need more power than the wheeled versions... allowing the 180hp to be used in the standard c172p is being nice... i always fly with the 180hp engine when i fly the c172p ;)
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Lol I bet.
Though those Airbus are great machines and now with the new computer there is no lag!
Just working on getting FG running again and I will be back in the cockpit.

And: Yes, the 180HP variant of the C172 is for the water / pontoon plane, as it needs more power.

Cheers,
Ben

Thanks Ben, hope you enjoy.

I introduced a pitch trim handler. If you have electricity trim switch on, and the system has power, trim keys and buttons operate the electric trim switched in the cockpit instead of the manual trim.

Hey,

looks great. Was fun to fly it.
I wasn't aware of the pitch trim handler though. I gonna have to take a look.
Quite impressed with all the progress made with this bird.

Cheers

Hi it0uchpods.

Once again a successful version of the PA28 (Warrior).
Great FDM. I wish that the "Warrior" does not jump over the runway like a rubber ball.

Granted, I was maybe a bit too fast. But a small amount of magnetism of the suspension would be helpful for the beginner.

Best Regards

Hi D-ABBA:
I do not know what you mean "jump over the runway like a rubber ball"

I modeled the ground effects close to the real one based off my personal experience, so it should be right. Maybe you can further elaborate?

Glad you did enjoy!

Kind Regards,
Josh

Renamed the warrior to IDG-PA28X to fall in line with our naming scheme with other IDG aircraft, and also because we plan on adding other PA28 non "Warrior" models.

The bizarre landing characteristic of floating endlessly has been corrected, you should be able to land properly now. It may still need some tuning, but it is just much, much better.

The new 3D is getting along well, and I am beginning to integrate it into the plane properly.
