Latest news:
PA28-Warrior just received an FDE overhaul. I corrected many errors I made my first attempt at a GA FDE, and improved the feeling of the flight controls, and response.
In addition, Gerhard has been also improving the Sounds, Cockpit, and Nav stuff, and Gabriel has improved lights etc.
Please give it a try and report back if you are so inclined!

Kind Regards,
Josh

Seems like it can't find a lot of stuff for some reason. That is rather odd, I didn't have that issue. I think it might be related to your path being double aircraft is causing problems.

Kind Regards,
Josh

Confirmed these are all case errors, will again warn the team about case sensitive paths. Fixing now.

@wlbragg, you should be able to use it now, please report any further ones I may have missed from your log.

Yes, fixed the startup issues.

Some other items now.

After startup the HUD is visible by default. Personally I don't think it should be, but I understand if that is your preference.

After "Ready for Takeoff" this little prompt is left until I close it. Don't know if that was supposed to be this way?

The landing light. Look at the J3Cub (actually the PA-18) c172p to see how I handled the landing/taxi light for interior and exterior views. The PA-18 (J3Cub) has it too but it is using a little bit different light scheme for the interior view because its a tail dragger.

I'm not sure what this is all about. This happens when rolling out to take off if I get off the pavement onto the dirt or grass. I think maybe it is something going haywire with the dust effect?

Now for something nice to say instead of critiques...

Hey Wayne
1) Odd, it should just say "Panel state loaded successful" or something like that. Weird.
2 OK, I will, would be great --- the Airbus' suffer from this same problem. (can you link me that exact c172 so I know I have correct version?)
3) Never seen that before...
4) Nice picture!

What'd you think about the rest, systems, FDM?

Kind Regards,
Josh

The c172p that comes in fgdata or the dev repo They will both have it. If I get a chance in the next week or so I'll see if I can set it up for you if you want.

What'd you think about the rest, systems, FDM?

I missed this line.

Over all my first impressions were favorable. I'm using mouse and keyboard so my feel of the controls may be skewed. I felt it was a little loose. I am used to the c172p and the Cub-PA-18 so anything different I notice. I was having a little bit of trouble rolling back and forth trying to settle into a stable flight because of the "looseness". I don't know that I am describing this very well. It seemed slow to respond to my control input so I kept rocking back and for while trying to go straight. That could be my controls, it could be my frame rate, it could be that I am just not used to it. It made it feel like I was really floating on air, but a little harder to control precisely. Both of the the aircraft I am used to I would say are tight, so maybe they're a little off and I am not used to this.

I took off and landed successfully so that was a good thing.

I wanted to click on the headset on my dash and either put on the headphones or hide them, they were bugging me. :lol:

I'll have to fly it some more and use more of its features. So far I like and I like that model aircraft in particular.

Hey
Well, after having a chance to fly the C172 in real life, I noticed the C172 in FG is extremely over sensitive in the flight controls. I tried to match the controls of this plane as closely to how the PA28-161 I fly in real life, and I think I got close. The roll, especially, is not so sensitive. I also tried to match the inertia as closely as I could when the controls were centered.

I can add a hide option for that possible, I'll bring that up with gerhard.

Glad you are enjoying, thanks for feedback.

Kind Regards,
Josh

Well, after having a chance to fly the C172 in real life, I noticed the C172 in FG is extremely over sensitive in the flight controls.

I've heard that before, maybe we can do something about it at some point. I have no context as to how it should feel. I actually flew in a couple a few times when I was in my early teens. So long ago there is no way I could apply my impressions as to how it felt into making a sim of one now.

I need to spend some time in yours to really get the feel for it. If you're comparing your real life experience to what your programming in the sim, then great, I believe you, it certainly feels like I am "flying" it.

I am of the opinion these aircraft simulations should be and feel as close to the real thing as possible, so who better to judge that than someone that has been in one and felt the real thing.

Continuing on. I noticed the inside frame and the outside fuselage are "raw", yes, there is still some of the effects to be applied and possibly some better textures?

I think this is a great start to what I hope to be a polished aircraft at some point in the future. If only there was unlimited time and resources to throw at these projects!

hi wayne,
Yes.

There is no 3D guy working on this plane right now, so yes, it is in need of much work!

I need to correct something I noticed today about aileron performance, maybe that will help, I made a typo.

Hi,
After flying the real plane today, and immediately flying this Warrior after, I found numerous issues with the Aerodynamics.

The result is:
* Many improvements to drag axis
* Fixed a few things in lift axis
* Fixed some stuff FCS
* Fixed some cockpit animations
* Rework cockpit lighting
* Fix 3D of prop and spinner
* Fixes to landing light by TheAlexP
* Animated gear tires
* Some fixes to instruments
* Fixed a few bugs
* Replaced engines and prop files with much better ones.

Kind Regards,
Josh
