YASim CLI "bug"

Postby jsb » Sun Mar 19, 2017 1:00 am

Hi,

tl;dr; If the -a <altitude> option is used, altitude must be given in meters not ft.

in the last weeks I spent quite some time diving into the yasim C++ sources, basically because I want to get a deeper understanding on how it works and also give some more output to the aircraft developer.
I found an error in the documentation of the YASim CLI tool in the wiki http://wiki.flightgear.org/YASim which is corrected now.
If the -a <altitude> option is used, altitude must be given in meters not ft.

Internally YASim uses metric units, the XML parser converts lbs to kg, kt to m/s etc. silently for you. One would expect the yasim cli does the same with the options on the command line. In fact, it does for -s <knots> but not for -a <altitude>.

just to let you know :)
