Detailed P-51 airframe structure

Postby curt » Wed Mar 01, 2017 3:02 am

I just stumbled on this 6 part series about building a highly detailed P-51 model. It just blew me away! This is now on my model making bucket list for someday (it's not a cheap kit!) The final pictures in part 6 of the series are amazing.

The flightgear p-51 has a similar attention to the fine structural detail and is also an amazing piece of detailed work. Sadly Hal Engel passed away 2 years ago so the FlightGear p-51 development has been mostly on pause. If anyone out there in FlightGear land shares Hal's passion for extreme accuracy and detail and is also interested in continuing to work on developing the p-51 aircraft model for FlightGear, please know that Hal wished the development to continue and efforts like this are never finished. For the right person and in the right context, some of Hal's detailed reference material might also be accessible.

Flightgear's Silent Wing Hal's Engel P-51 , should since now show his name in the livery. Any volunteer, livery specialist ?

Having the right photo I'm volunteer to make an Special Commemorative Edition Splash for that model.

Curt, knowing you as the number one "Gallinazo" model maniac of FG. I can imagine your expression watching at that P51 VDM ( Very detailed Model) with great satisfaction. The model is phenomenal.
If you like it go for it.

Cheers
