Boeing 777 Model

Postby Clive2670 » Sun Dec 11, 2016 2:13 pm

I am hoping someone might be able to answer this question please? I have been having problem with the 777 model, I go to run in 2016.3.1 it will load up slash screen, go through the loading systems, scenery etc, but when the screen changes to the airport I have opted for, No model is displayed (You are sitting at ground level, and cycling through the views shows no model. I have tried "reloading model" in debug....still nothing. Tried a COMPETE uninstall of everything, wiped drive of any remenants of flightgear data, reinstalled and same errors appear again, But also when the 777 (141Mb) is downloaded, it shows the full download, then shows an error that there are (I think it says) missing critical files but then shows a "Update" box instead of the "Uninstall" box. So then it can't be "updated" or "uninstalled" Anyone got any idea's please?

what are you using to download the 777 and install it?
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

are you saying that you used the new --launcher's download capability to download the 777 from the FGAddon hanger?

wkitty42 thanks for getting back,Yes I did download from the FGAddon hangar, (It is the Official "Project Seattle" version). Incidently I have found that certain models work and others do not,

NON-WORKING Models are: 777-200 (First Officer), 777-200ER(Captain), 777-200ER (First Officer), 777-200F (First Officer), 777-200LR (First Officer), 777-200LR(First Officer), 777-300(First Officer), 777-300ER(First Officer),

WORKING Models are: 777-200 (Captain), 777-200F (Captain), 777-300 (Captain), 777-300ER (Captain)

As you can see there are more Non-Working than Working!
I have also deduced that the "initializing subsystems" at the bottom of the splashscreen takes about 2 minutes on a plane that will work before going to "loading scenery" and on the planes that don't work this will take about 10 seconds. I hope that this helps? If you want any more info' please let me Know

The first officer aircraft are for dual control, i.e. you connect as first officer to a captain's aircraft over multiplayer and twiddle buttons on their behalf. I've never tried it but I think you have to connect to the other user's aircraft before seeing their cockpit. You don't have a cockpit of your own, it wouldn't make sense. You just get the right seat in their cockpit.

Maybe you should try the 777-200ER (Captain) again. I suspect it will work.

Yes it does as I said, But....The -200LR did work but now, as I said the airport loads but no model, I do like using the LR model for long range flights from Western Australia Etc as it makes the sim more plausable for fuel usage! rather than filling up in mid-air! So something is a miss within the install file I suspect.

I experienced this problem too about a month ago, when testing the builtin launcher. I suspect it (or you by mistake?) sometimes picks up a -fo variant (first officer, as sanhozay said above) despite your wish for a “captain” variant, which causes the no-model problem. There have been some bugs and relatively recent changes in the builtin launcher code related to variant selection, which could very well explain this (all the more since I never experienced this problem with FFGo, whose variant selection system is completely different). If you try with the devel version of FG (from 'next'/nightlies) and still have the problem, reporting it to the flightgear-devel mailing list would certainly help.

Yes you are quite correct, I was trying to start the "F/O" version of the aircraft, I now make sure that before I Run that I select the correct option of the aircraft required!!! Thanks for reply anyway!
