Re: Airbus A320 Family Development

Just wanted to post up and say how much I'm enjoying the A320. Very nice and great to have an Airbus that works quite well from cold and dark.

FDM is very good, especially at lower speeds (sub 220kts). Only comment I might make at this point in development is that perhaps the engine response to power lever input is a little too quick?

Keep up the fantastic work.

Alex,
Thanks for your input. I agree it's to quick. I'll make the change soon.

Would you also agree that above 220kts, flaps 0, there is too much lift? (Pitch below horizon)?

Sadly manual startup doesn't completely work yet.

Glad you are enjoying!

Hi Josh,

Not sure I'd agree there. As you can see here at quite a high speed and a fairly stable attitude it's showing a not unreasonable climb rate for the 320.
Image

One other thing, which is probably just due to the development stage and please don't think I'm nitpicking at all, just purely incase you hadn't noticed; when turning on the batteries at from cold and dark the Voltage shown is 0 despite the fact they are powering the systems OK.

All the best,

Alex

Alex,
But it shouldn't climb with pitch below horizon. Even with that speed.

I'm redoing the electrical system very soon, that will be addressed.

Thx,
Josh

Hi Josh,

I've some questions concerning your A320 simulator:
    1) Around Zurich Airport (LSZH), there are some hills. During the climb out of LSZH, I always get several RA callouts whenever the terrain reaches 2000 or 2500 feet. I'd expect this during the landing phase only. Is this normal behavior also during the climb?
    2) I was trying to set VOR, ILS, etc. through the MCDU but didn't succeed, i.e. I couldn't input any values. Is the MCDU already working? If not, is it possible to use the one from FGMEMBERS? --> https://github.com/FGMEMBERS/A330-200
    3) As far a I know, when for example climbing with a rate of 12.5° (manual input through side-stick) and releasing the side-stick so that it goes back to neutral position, the Airbus will continue climbing with 12.5°. It should memorize the side-stick input values. However, with the simulator, this doesn't work, i.e. the plan decends, turns to the right / left when releasing the side-stick... Will you implement this feature in the future, too?
Thank you so much for developing this great A320!!

Best regards,
Patrick

@pfrei
Hi
I've been taking a break from development for a bit, prob back in early 2017.

1) Hmm, this only should if the V/S is less than 0... But I'll check it.
2) MCDU is not worked. I left it from the A320neo. I will be completing it once EVERYTHING else is simulated, as well as a full FMGC with managed speed, heading, and altitude modes.
3) FBW is not done yet, but I am working on FBW (A340-600VIP), and I also might even use the ITAF CWS (next ITAF build) mode for FBW. It will depend to see which method works better once they are both completed.

Thanks for flying. I assure you it will be corrected in time :D
Prob first, I do the electrical system, hydraulic, pneumatic.

Happy Holidays,
Josh

Some minor things to solve:
*shadow under the plane

Is this supposed to have been fixed yet, as it doesn't appear to be?

The translate for the shadow is
Code: Select all
 <!--Translate to ground level  -->
    <animation>
        <type>translate</type>
        <object-name>shadow</object-name>
        <property>/controls/lighting/shad-light-alt</property>
        <factor>0.301</factor>
        <axis>
            <x>0</x>
            <y>0</y>
            <z>-1</z>
        </axis>
    </animation>

I can't find a reference to "/controls/lighting/shad-light-alt" anywhere in the code. I think I know how to fix the translation if you still need this done.

Where are you finding that? I removed the shadow many commits ago?

I hadn't pulled lately, it appears it's gone according to the commit log.
Did you decide you don't want the shadow at all, or didn't want to take the time to fix it?

I don't want it there. Shadows can be created using Rembrandt, and I think ALS too?

This is just an animation of a model file. Which I don't like.

Regarding other things:
I'll be updating this plane with my new AP version, should make the AP more stable in bad weather. I also will continue the electrical system, and FDM work.

and I think ALS too?

That was technically suppose to be one version of an ALS shadow. Not the ALS volumetric shadow. I think it could have been fixed by changing the translation parameter. Anyway, I thought I would offer to fix it if you wanted it, but if not then that is fine too.

@wlbragg
I know how I could have fixed it, but I think you'll agree it's more important to get the systems done right now ;)
I'll look into it later after the aircraft has more systems, and is more stable. But even after that, I have to build the CFM engines, and Sharkets, and all kind of things.

Thanks for the offer though!
