Sukhoi's SU-27 Flanker B (JSBSim FDM) developpement

Postby yanes » Tue Oct 11, 2016 1:18 am

Salam all FG forum users ,
Here is an early version of the Soviet/Russian 4th Generation fighter aircraft ,
This beautiful bird , is well placed in the 20th century fighters aircrafts , and has some stunning aerodynamics capabilities
and features , here's the Wikipedia page that describes it .
The FG one is currently under developpement , But it reached the level that make it available for FG users and testers ,
The currrent state includes :

* A reasonable (still under dev) JSBSim FDM .
* A well modeled airframe model (By FGUK-team, Fixed and updated by Me).
* A working cockpit click-able Autopilot panel , kept compatibility
with the well known default FG's autopilot dialog, and some other
functions(ILS landing , Alt hold , Nav and route follow , Heading hold
and a lot of other functions.
* An canvas SVG HUD (still in development ) that support navigation route
marker and Radar targets markers .
* A working Radar (Not an accurate prototype of the N-010 installed on
board of Su-27SK version of the fighter).
* Navigation Display , taking benefit from the ND Framework , but still
not similar to the Su-27 one (I think it's just a matter of styling).
* A radar screen display can be switched between ND and tactical mode as
in a real aircraft .
* A large range of sounds for various simulation and avionics effects,
including a russian voice for cockpit warning .
* Lot of other effects and avionics that I hope you'll like :) .

For more information about aircraft and some help see the "READ-ME" & the "SU-27FG.pdf" included in the package .
Greetings and thanks belongs to :
* the FGUK-team for their SU-27 prototype ,
* MIG-29 developers,
* The F-15 developers,(their svg hud was a huge help ),
* The Mirage2000-5 developer ,
* A lot of fg-Aircrafts developers ,

UPDATE 12/2017: aircraft v0.4 uploaded .

You can get the aircraft package from the GIT repos: SU-27SK

Which edge?
Anyway, the model is in an acceptable status, but still a work in progress.
You need just some patience ;)

I think abassign means the undercarriage could use some smooth shading.

Nice one! It took me a while to find out that you can close the canopy with "c".

Two issues:
- during retraction wheels go through wings
- you forgot "SK" in the liveries.nas file (correct path is "Aircraft/SU-27SK/Models/Liveries")

;) I like to up the ante on the work that they deserve, I feel that this can become a beautiful plane!

Ciao :)

P.S:
By the number of polygons do not worry I checked that up to 500,000 no performance problems on GPU with 2GB of video RAM on.

@xcvb : Thank you for replying and reporting the issues ,the gears animation is little bit complicated because it affects the aircraft, on runway,
But the liveries dialog was fixed as you said .
@abassign :I'm happy you liked it , yes vertex counts , and nasal background loops were a nightmare for me. There's a lot of real aircrafts that didn't run efficiently due to performance issues .(especially on relatively old machines , like mine )

Thank you all ,

Hi

I clone the Github repo and I cannot find it in FG.

I am running FG 2014.4 in Ubuntu 16.10.

1. where did you clone it to?
2. did you tell FG about it via your --fg-aircraft setting where you list your custom aircraft directories?
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

You should also be aware of the "-master" appended to the .zip package name .
the correct name of the aircraft directory is "SU-27SK"

If he cloned it (as he said), it wouldn't have "-master" appended to it.

I do confirm the name is Su-27SK, and add it via launcher. I put it in to same place where others custom aircraft directories use.
