Fiat G.91 R4 v.10109

Postby cobe571 » Mon Sep 19, 2016 11:32 pm

Well, the development continue. A new thread in order to continue the Fiat G.91R4 development. Unfortunately, the project will no longer be followed by abassign for the FDM part. Thanks to him for the great effort and the time spent. Now is time to take his work and rewrite to make it more compatible with my 3D model. So I decided to open this new thread where I will show the more recent updates. Now there's the hard work of all development supported in the recent years in order to validate whether the commitment, is still valid today. Besides the texture, which are in my opinion, the last part on the creation of a 3D plane for FlightGear; in this project it is necessary to erase various FDM code parts made by abassign with a proper re-organization of the entire work into the different directories. Time will say if this plane will fly under FlightGear.

If anyone is interested on the entire development of my G.91R4 3D model from its origins to today, or about my ownership of the model, I strongly recommend to take a look to the photo gallery that I created time by time into my Facebook profile; so you will see from where I started the whole job -> https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 7c0f58b4f6

Hello PINTO,
Thank you for the kindly words. Isn't an easy task to make it available really soon. I need to explain: Meanwhile I'm still working on the 3D model and his various parts to optimize at the best the topology, and producing related UVmaps for future textures, I'm dealing also with the FDM code that need to be rewritten. The old FDM code was really good in different parts, but suffers from many deficiencies and a really bad organization, becoming extremely invasive in all those parts where it was not absolutely necessary. ie. Textures. Impairing so the smooth continuation of the G91R4 development. Hence the need to personally pick up the whole job made up until today and start again from scratch. I am not at all intimidated by the amount of work that still lies ahead. Nor I expect help from anyone on this forum after all threads that have been there. Not always happy for what I remember... For the most is my fault probably. But I do not worry too much, because that's life and I understand that just this kind of conversations made me clear understand the right direction to take on this project. In these past years I have learned a lot from all the people I met into this Forum. Most of them all-trained and talented people, I admire into the coding field, unlike me, just good for drawing and making 3D models. The greatest knowledge I have drawn, however, from those I thought were my enemies, and instead they gave me the greatest knowledge to understand the right path to follow.

So thank you everyone.
The development continue.

This Fiat G.91 R4 v.10109 3D model is the sum of several 3D mesh (parts of the 3D model) I developed from 2012 until today.
The current 3D model right now allows me to be able to produce almost all other G.91 "R" variants.
Thereby the G.91R/1 version will be available; so G.91R/2, the G.91R/3, and obviously the PAN version.
All these parts will remain under my control covered by © + CC-BY-NC-ND 4.0 License.

*NOTE: This list is subject to updates.

============================
Major Update:

Change License: GPLv2+ license

The choice to adopt a new license came to me after reading the last posts on this development forum. You can read at this topic: GPLv2+ vs. GPLv3+ licensing for FGAddon -> https://forum.flightgear.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=33605 . I think that the biggest lesson, that we all must have learned, is that in order to make things work well in this simulator and avoid unnecessary discussions, it is necessary to conform and then accept, what are the rules, that have been taken, in the years of development of this amazing flight simulator. After carefully pondering; I consider it strictly necessary, that for a matter of coherence, within this environment of development of the airplanes that, maybe a day, could then enter the FGAddon repository, it is fundamental to use the most suitable license, more coherent with the initial FlightGear flight simulator project. To be accessible to everyone. I also believe that for the purpose of a correct development of the project, of any project, it is essential to use the GPLv2 + license that is perfectly integrated into the FlightGear simulator.
