Josh, I have the lighting fix, how do you want it delivered? You want reflective external glass effect also?

No, I don't like the fuselage all shiny.

You can send a pull request on github, or PM me the files.

Please apply the fix to all models, 82, 87, 88 and 90 (if needed)

Thank you.

PS: I've paused development of this aircraft. I am focusing on the A320Family for a while. It will continue to receive bugfixes, ITAF Updates, and minor improvements.

Kind Regards,
Josh

I meant only the external "glass", not the fuselage. But It has an issue I have to figure out, so forget that for now.

As far as the fuselage lighting and reflective surfaces go.

I don't know much about how "material animation" works with the "model effects" framework, maybe someone could add some input here. But in my experience it screws up the model effects.

If you leave the material animation definition in place you get this.

If you remove it you get this.

Thoroughly in love with the MD-8X work on this model by itouchpods. Very impressed!

I would love to see this old bird make a come back and see more airmen flying it on FG mp.

Time to get a trend started! This aircraft doesn't get the love it deserves among the FG pilots. FLY IT!!! Show some respect gents!! :P

If anyone ever decide to revive this aircraft, please contact me if you’re interested in the EFD variant, as i seem to be one of the few people still with the documents of this aircraft, these are specific to the aircraft supplied with EFD, if you happen to decide to, this will be an exclusive to Flightgear.

Who knows, perhaps after my current projects are finished.
If you would like to PM me the documents, would appreciate.

MD-80 DFGC

Postby dsky » Fri Dec 10, 2021 4:32 pm

Hi,

this is my first post on this forum, so the usual preventive apologies apply ... :)

I found this very interesting development, the MD-80, and after a first try I have this feeling the the flight model is pretty good.

I was wondering what is the development status and if there is any intention to progress with it (I saw some recent updates on GitHub but this forum is pretty static: is there another forum dedicated to its development?).

I am also interested in the modeling of the DFGC for which, time ago, I developed a state machine logic that describes all the possible mode/state transitions. How realistic is the current implementation?

Congratulation to the team!

My friend, please check the updated airplane, this one is VERY old. I've done a pretty realistic DFGC already for it:
In addition, the flight model here is not that accurate, the one in the new plane is tested by real MD-80 pilot :)

Hello Josh,

I am so pleased to make your acquaintance!

I have actually tried the one I got from your GitHub site, from the Octal450's Hangar link.

Isn't it the right one to use and follow?

Thanks,

Fabrizio
