Is the project not progressing anymore? I didn't see any a development in the past few months.

I'd like to fly this plane and also to help out with it. I'm pretty excited for this thing!

Irregardless of the visual aspects, the 747-8 here is pretty similar to PMDG's 747, though it lacks a complex FMC and IRS it's still quite the same, I did not have any hard time figuring out what buttons to press on the PMDG since I've got the knowledge thanks to this bird. Handling is also very similar, though the PMDG one, slightly drifts and banks quite faster than this, but overall, I find both the same (irregardless of the visuals)

Anything new? I'd love to contribute in making a good 748 in FG...

Are the files from this project avaliable? I'd love to contribute to making this jet a reality...

Decided to spend a couple of days learning how the XML config file for sound works and as an experiment did some changes. Namely replaced jet-trent1 wav file to a real life engine sound from a video I filmed of a Korean Air Cargo 747-8. A problem I'm having is I can't get rid of the pops which seem to occur in regular intervals. De-amplifying wav file doesn't seem to do anything. Here's a video demo:

Not sure if I should share just the sound folder or the entire 747-8 folder so I just uploaded the latter.

AFAIK pops come from mismatched beginning and ending or silence on one or both... try playing it in a loop in audacity and see if you still get the pops... if you do, fix it in there and then try it in FG...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Thanks for the tips. I discovered I had to make it so that the sound's wave function starts at 0 and ends at 0. So I did that and it got massively reduced. There's still some random pops and clicks but its very unnoticeable.

EDIT: Actually 1 more question. How do you extend the pitch range such that the higher end stays the same but the lower end is lowered? For example when the engine is at idle the pitch sounds kind of high but I'm satisfied with the pitch once it's at N1. From my understanding factor moves the entire pitch range but doesn't change the size and offset is vise versa but not sure how to extend one side of the pitch range.

I have done the same a while ago and experienced the same issue, and yes the pops or inconsistent sound can come from the front end being different then the back end, it takes some time but you have to cut the front end and the back end until they match in sound and volume, if your recording was not consistent from front to back, you will never get it perfect!!! Having said that I believe you only need a 4 or 6 second recording. If you have a long recording then look for a consistent stretch, cut, save and hurray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
