Hi,

may I request this Boeing 747-8 project to be called the "Joe Sutter Project" in honor of the father of the 747 who passed away to eternal life today.

This is a devel thread of a plane, the name need to be so descriptive as possible. Something doable here in honouring him drawing a special livery when the 3d exterior model is ready.

Sounds good ! I think a livery with his face on the tail and a list of projects should be on the side

Correct!

Well, I already thought about a livery, but not to call the project "Joe Sutter Project". Joe Sutter did most of his work on the 747-100, and not on the 747-8. I found this livery, maybe this would be the right livery to honor Joe Sutter. Or I just do the livery of the very first 747. Or I do both :)
I made new liveries:
CPA - Cathay Pacific Cargo:

GTI - Atlas Air (operated for: FlightGear Flight Simulator): (Yes, I have to fix the engine intake)
Image

KAL - Korean Air Cargo:

SVA - Saudia Cargo:

I thought about doing new sounds, but the author of this video doesn't seem to answer my e-mail, so I can't use his video/audio....Does anyone has a video of a 747-8 takeoff I could use for new sounds (with the permission/ GPLv2 licence)?

what's wrong with the engine intake? i'm happy to see those ugly silver/chrome rings gone... i don't want them in my liveries that i've painted for a few craft and i have not found out how to remove them so my paint scheme works the way i want it... i think something in the model overrides my paint but i don't know what or how to fix it my removing those rings or at least removing the forced sliver/chrome color... perhaps it is a texture that i want to remove for the same effect you show??
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.

First of all, commas and periods are group-living animals. Please remember that. With the new modeled engines, I removed the ugly chrome ring you mentioned. The whole 3D model was several years old - now it was time to upgrade the queen of the sky! If you take a look at the KAL or the SVA livery, you can see a grey ring around the engine. In the GTI livery I overpainted it in the texture, that's the thing I have to fix!

I noticed that the GENx font on the Cathay Livery is in reversed, is there a specific left and right texture on the engines?

Is there a date as to when this aircraft is available? Also, any work on the cockpit,

I am also thinking of a good Joe Sutter livery, I will make a draft of it the soonest

oh, ok... so you're painting that ring back in... that makes sense... thanks! :)

I have been in real 747-8 and you cannot see the construction lines on them when painted it's very smooth

Yep that's a problem I noticed when I started with the first liveries. Well I have only one texture for the engines (left side) and the textures on the right are mirrored. I look what I can do!

I thnik it'll be this month.
Vladimir Akimov wrote in Tue Sep 13, 2016 1:21 pm:Damn, those pics look great! Any cockpit preview?

Well, it's still the same old cockpit you all know. I'm gonna improve the cockpit after I released the first version, which should be in a few weeks.

Correct! Even on other planes you can't see these outlines. I think here in Flightgear, they add some detail to the model. Please look at the B777. Some liveries have these outlines, some don't. I think the ones with the very small outlines look better and more detailed than the ones without. The new textures of my 747 have a resolution of 4096x2048 and the outlines are just in light grey and 1 pixel wide, I think that's ok. Have a look at the 747-8i without the lines:

I think the whole model looks boring and undetailed.

Can you provide the paintkit I want to make the new CX cargo livery and maybe the Hong Kong trader one too
Also I would suggest making the original livery but with the logos of every single operator the old lady had and not just the original launch customers
