Do you wish for this to be included in the official repository? (If so, we'd need licensing statements from you). If not, you're more or less free to do whatever you like.

As long as the situation hasn't changed, it's the later case (vslash has indicated they wish to maintain licensing freedom over inclusion in the official repository.)

Edit: I don't want my message to make it sound like this decision is entirely at vslash's discretion. Portions of this model do not have a clear open-source license lineage so it would not be possible to include it in a GPL (or CC) licensed aircraft collection.

The v0.7 is released with some improvments amongst:
- MultiPlayer support including animation, liveries, lighting and sounds.
- Dual-Control (it's a start, very limited, see pdf documentation + caveats)
- major improvments on the FDM (Yasim) with better behaviour at hover.
- featured HUDs for the Bell412 (hover and cruise)
- AFCS : SAS YawDamper (Tail Rotor Adjuster) : so nice to fly with it now.
- documentation updated.
- and many more ... (see the CHANGELOG for details)

My special thanks to Joshua (itOuchpods) for its precious help on PID Controlers.

Please, be kind and remember to post/comments/likes on Youtube Video or Google or LinkedIn,

This is all what you have to p(l)ay ! :o)

Thank you using the Bell-412 and congratulation to the FG team for its last improvments

Happy FG

yep, post pictures (many, HD) of what you would like ... I generaly design liveries from real existing ones (ie from real Bell-412). Don't know when it could be done (it depends on the areas I'm working on ... coding, logic or design ...), but I will put it on my todo list, no pb. Thanks for asking.

The Flightgear Bell-412 V0.8 is released:
Image

A word about this version:
* New Liveries
- German Notarzt
- Australian NSW Helimed
- Canadian CoastGuard in HD
* Dual Control
Dual Control is almost done, I evolve it with training purpose in mind.
A lot of people told me they like the chopper but have some troubles to manage it.
So, DC will solve this problem. It's a nice way to make the B412 more 'bombable' too ...
I have done a process that sync pilot/copilot cyclic sticks in order to avoid some position gap btw controls over the network.
* N2 Governor
The Bell412 now features a true governor, it controls the N2 engine RPM, thus the rotor RPM. It's really nice to fly with it, speed and behavior are more reliable and stable.
323.8 RPM is surely not equal to 324 RPM. We understand how it matters here.
* Design
I improved the design a bit: nose access & rivets, particle separator housing inside the engine air inlet, and better specular & shinyness under ALS. Each livery now embed its own specular & shine values. Nose electronics and battery are on the way ...
* FORCE TRIM
I introduced the useful force trim electro-magnetic system which allows the pilot to feel aerodynamic forces through an hydraulic system.
The force trim here makes pilot's controls more accurate near a given position according to the speed (reciprocal power).
Low speed + cyclic at neutral position = more accurate
Hovering is thus easy despite the lack of a complete AFCS functionalities.
It currently supports only neutral position, next version will be more realistic ;
force trim theorically allows hand off flight.
Please read the documentation, a complete paragraph explains how it works in details.

The documentation is constantly updated, it's free, so feel free to read it for a better experience.
I always expect feedbacks from the FG community, so this will be my best whishes for
2018 ! ;o)

Thank you using the Bell-412,

It flew very well, my only complaint is that it keeps changing my call-sign but other than that good job.

I guess you are talking about the MP callsign ... So, the startup option --callsign="MyCallName" (or the option you set through your launcher) has precedence over the xml property "/sim/multiplay/callsign" (this property is used in the Bell-412-set.xml file). IMHO, the only difference is that the startup option --callsign is not saved over session in the autosave.xml file, so you have to specify it each time you launch FGFS. If this doesn't work, I will take a better look on this issue. Tell me ..

Do you plan on making force trim selectable (IE with the switch on the cyclic)?

The Forcetrim is already selectable by pressing 'y' (cyclic switch move as well) ... but it is not 'pickable'. FTRIM is still a work in progress, behavior is not always as expected. Enable or disable it before taking off, or at very low speed.

Yes I was referring to the MP call sign. I do not have mine selected in the launcher because some small airstrips put me in odd locations when Spawn in, so I connect once FG is launched after moving off of the runway if there is no parking to choose from to start with. It's not a huge deal it's just the first time I've encountered this. But again good job.

Making the chrono ... from the original (picture unskewed from a real pic) :
Image

to this one:
Image

100% photoshoped ! Using Eurostyle font that was heavily used at this time (late 70's, 80's). Screws coming from real picture above.

Now, this explains how it works
https://www.cumulus-soaring.com/davtron.htm
Thanks to the internet.
:D

I redesign the FDM too, some bad and unrealistic behavior leading to a too hi rpm in some conditions.
I rewrited the Excel Macro + graph in order to match those given by airfoiltools ;
==> here the data from real airfoils:
Image

==> and the Yasim parms with graph matching the range and limits above:

Image

Using non-symetrical airfoil in order to get more lift for Alpha < 0° ; in all case, Yasim cannot reproduce the real world unless using data table or matrix. But it's still a very powerful FDM.
CU..
