Hi guys,
I had downloaded this plane from another location and I couldn't get starter 2 to switch on. Autostart wouldn't work either.
So I erased the files from my FG folder and downloaded the github.com/D-ECHO/Q400-jsb.git.

Now, the starter switch doesn't move, and autostart now starts only the right engine but not the left.
I'm confused

Yes that is understandable! However, it is not possible to takeoff with the Q400 by using only one engine :)
I tried to find some keyboard shortcut to select the starter of engine 2 to no avail.

Thoughts on how to get both engines running?

Oh and yes I had realized after standing on the tarmac without the plane, that the folder name might not have been correct. I had then changed it to be simply Q400.

S***! I mean to fix the pitch moment and CG problem for JSBsim... and I forgot. Sorry @D-ECHO. Adding to my TODO list.

Kind Regards,
Josh

PS: feel free to bug me if I forget stuff.

Seems to work for me. I did notice engine 1 is uncontrollable, fixed now. It was due to a not-yet-working FADEC PID enabled.

Kind Regards,
Josh

Compliments to the developers of this fine aircraft. As far as I can see, it is the best turboprop airliner in Flightgear and I want to explore and use it more regularly.

Having said that, I still have problems with the autopilot: If I see things rightly, the route manager decides automatically whether following GPS NAV (to fixes) or VOR/NDB navigation, the "source" knob doesn't really change anything. It appears not to be important to turn the VOR or NDB frequencies in (via F12), the "course" knob doesn't seem to work either.

This automatic process might be fine as long as I follow the flight plan, the aircraft finds its way easily. What I don't get to work is ILS approach. Does it work in the FG Q400 - and I simply mix up with the switches (vertical control)? Or is it not fully implemented?

By the way, happy new year to all pilots, developers etc.! Good flight in 2018 :D

The latest version of D-ECHO uses my IT-AUTOFLIGHT autopilots, which you can simply push APPR, and it gets armed. Once the LOC and then G/S are in the proper range, the system will automatically capture the localizer and glideslope.

Josh

Hi Oswald,
thank you very much for the feedback,
First of all, I'd need to know which version of the aircraft you are using, is it the one from FGAddon or my git (https://github.com/D-ECHO/Q400-jsb)?
Also, the source selection might not correctly work, I'll have a look into it today or tomorrow :D
Regards

Hi D-ECHO,
it is the one from your git, download 28th Nov 2017.

Hi Josh, I give it another try, maybe last time I was too low to find the glideslope, intercept was fine. But what I cannot see is whether I get the intercept from VOR/LOC or from GPS.

Hi Oswald,
Don't understand. In the stock configuration, the AP can use NAV1 or NAV2 for VOR/LOC. GPS/Route Manager is tracked in LNAV mode.

Kind Regards,

Hi Oswald,
I've fixed the NAV toggling only FMS, depending on your nav source, it now follows either FMS, NAV1 or NAV2
