Alan,
Thanks for the info about the prop. I've just applied this fix into my IDG-PA28 and it is much more realistic!

Do you know if there is documentation about this? I do not recall reading anything like this when I made this prop.

Kind Regards,
Josh

I already quoted https://github.com/JSBSim-Team/jsbsim/wiki/Moments-applied-by-a-propeller-to-an-aircraft
This bug report has more details, and gives links to the resulting discussions https://sourceforge.net/p/jsbsim/bugs/110/

The iat.png error can be cured by editing the file dome-light.ac and changing both lines containing
texture "..\temp\iat.png"
to
texture "iat.png"

This is normal text file. Alternatively you can copy iat.png from the temp directory to the one which containes dome-light.ac.

In-air reset - the bug is that this sometimes hangs forever.

Another in-air reset bug was already reported , with a sugested cure, in my post https://forum.flightgear.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=28303&p=348717&hilit=brake#p348717.

Actually I don't think dome-light.ac should be using it at all. That is why I said an erroneous texture or material assignment. I think it may be a duplicate material setting that is using that .png. Should probably be removed altogether.

Alan, I think the only two issue you reported left to resolve is the joystick throttle and
In-air reset - the bug is that this sometimes hangs forever

I have as of yet not been able to reproduce these errors.
Can you give me any more specific information as to what I should be seeing and when I should be seeing it?

I read the link talking about the brake being set to "on" when an "In air reset" is executed. I haven't actually looked at that yet but will. I need to determin what exactly an in air reset is and what it is doing in order to know how to handle the brake.

It appears a bug has crept into the manual starting sequence. No idea how long it's been this way. I am usually in a hurry and use autostart.

The issue is the prop just doesn't turn over, it's like there is no power and the prop doesn't turn over.

If you use autostart, shut it down (magnetos to off), then try manual, it suddenly works.
Even when manual start is working, using [s] to turn it over sets the magneto, but incorrectly. It sets it to right (3) instead of both (4). I think because it still uses the fgdata defined key for [s] which probably is set to 3 but the Cub has a "bat" selection in line and need to be set to 4. Plus I don't want "s" (manual start) to set the mags at all.
I need to override the default "s" key.

I'm working on it and hopefully will have a fix soon.

My mistake on the starter issue, I included some oil temp check carried over from the c172p that shouldn't be there.

But while digging into it I discovered that currently there is a limit to being able to start it only from the interior view to protect the Walker.
However, the RL cub requires you to exit the aircraft to start it if your alone, If not alone, your "required" to have a "walker" on the outside to spin the prop. So technically I should add the logic to require you to exit the vehicle or have the walker turned on before allowing a manual start.

On another note, @polly noticed the rear wheel is not a castor wheel. I am amazed I never noticed this before. That needs to be rectified!

I've corrected the manual starter issue and also added castor for amphibious front gear, tail wheel and tail lite-ski.

Pushed to https://github.com/wlbragg/J3Cub for testing.

I'm holding off pushing to fgaddon until we can figure out why it's so touchy.

Thanks to @polly for bringing it to my attention.

Hello, apologizes in advance if this is already known about but when changing the liveries to anything other than the Default, the interiors of the Cub/Super Cub remain the Default Yellow. If this is accurate to how the real planes are then I double apologize. I just was wondering if that is something you may be able to adjust at some point in the future.

Image
The Default Yellow livery is visible here on parts of the interior while the Blue/Gold livery is equipped.

The Turn Indicator also appears to be behaving wonkie (no expert here obviously). No matter what I do to keep the dot in the middle of the dial, it remains on the left side. The screenshot above also shows the Turn Indicator "stuck" on the left side.

Yeah, I noticed that awhile back. It may be nothing more than the wrong point for the rotation animation of the ball.
I need to look into it.

the interiors of the Cub/Super Cub remain the Default Yellow.

Oops, something I missed, I'll get it fixed. Thanks.

I pushed a fix for the livery to the git development repository. I will push it to fgaddon later tonight. But there is a z-fighting issue on the top nose cowling when in the pa-18 variant. I still need to track that down and fix it.

Still need to look at the slip ball.

I noticed that on the cowling too but thought it might be my computer. Thanks!
