EV-55

Postby EDNY_TW » Tue May 05, 2015 2:23 pm

Hi everybody!
This is the project to model an Evektor EV-55 Outback for flightgear. The manufacturers website is here: http://www.evektor.cz/en/ev-55-outback
It has 11 seats (incl. 2 cockpit), 2 turbine engines, so it's comparable to the DHC6 Twin Otter.
You can find the project on github: https://github.com/D-ECHO/EV55

Hi!
I just read in the ViveFG forum, that someone "thinks he has read about development of EV-55 in the english fg-forum".
Unfortunately I was not able to find anything according to this. Does anyone of you know about such a development?
If not, I'll start the development.
Regards

That seems to be a beautiful aircraft. For those wondering, the full name is Evector EV-55 Outback (manufacturers website). Hmm, there is an amphibious version?

Seems to be good competition for the 'Twotter'.

Yes, there's an amphibious version, at least there will be one (currently in dev by Evektor I think).
So here is one more picture:

Just one question: Does anybody know how to fix the engine problem:

You mean the problem where you can see through the faces? That's due to the face normals being the wrong way. In Blender you can select the faces and then press space and search flip normals or something like that.

Edit: the faces are one sided which means they can only be seen from one side. It improves performance.

Some news:
-some interior work, seats added, panel added, some instruments added, yokes added, gear animation added, rudder animated (not really working good, will probably need help), flaps and aileron cutted.
The new panel (photo added(not in release!), some instruments and yokes added):

The aircraft complete/interior: (seats added)

The bad rudder animation:

The retractable gear:

Still a lot has to be done and before the first release Evektor must permit it, so it may take some time...

Two aspects of the mode that can be improved on the model are the the split windscreen and the wing fairings (in essence the 'fillings' between the fuselage and the wing). I assume you are aware of some of the wrinkles on the doors. ;)

For some reference images of the wing fairings, see these links:

Evektor let me know that they had nothing against publishing the model, they only wanted to have a link to the final state :)
So this aircraft will be available in some days! :)

Yay! :D

Give them a link when you feel happy with it. No aircraft in FlightGear is ever 'done'.

Have you used Git before and have you considered setting up a Git repository? If not, I would recommend it.

While learning Git basics will take a few hours,* I find it useful even when working on things on my own and locally. :)

* Though it is helped by videos like the one in this post, and resources like these.
