nasal's string.match()?? the first thing i thought of for your situation

If I had anticipated this problem, I'd simply have it spelled the same way everywhere...

I did a couple of tests for ECAL with inclination superior at 50 °.

I noticed a weird behavior concerning the Yaw Steering when enabled. Instead of taking 45 ° towards the East Coast ( yaw left), it was yawing right towards Bermuda Island, even with ECAL airfield selected in Spec50 ( Atlantic city here, 14 )

Did you i-load the direction in the mission file? Because it's not computed by guidance, it just uses whatever value is i-loaded.

Ah ok. No indeed.
Thought it was linked to the Spec 50 choice.
So i loaded parameters,it makes sense, it is either Bermuda or Ecal for a specific mission, thanks :)

Tested for Atlantic city, Inclination launch of 65 ° ( to be already align) and 2EO at 11000 f/s
Almost made it ( overshoot) and made to the next one ( Pease)
Landed on water, forgot the textures package

Something Wayne is very familiar with, but GinGin might not have seen yet in FG - the rain splash shader in action:

On the pad, but no lauch today, rain gently tapping on the windows.

Image

Don't do this unless you're a professional (and even then...) - CAT-I approach to KSC, if MLS doesn't lock on, you're so screwed...

Image

(still need to adjust glare and the splash vector, and I actually want to use it to render a crack in the glass for a systems abort mode where debris from SRBSep damages the window - but at least I've managed to put a correctly oriented surface in, which for me always seems to take longest...)

That is nice
I turned off rain, I will try it on again.
I remembered it was localised on the HUD only.
I will give it a test again, nothing special to activate apart from Precipitation and ALS shaders ?

Cat 1 at KSC, challenge accepted :D
Now that you fixed MLS, should be pinpoint strike

You made a nice one, how was the landing?

Truth to tell, I didn't actually try to touch down, I was after the photo opportunity. Probably would have broken a gearstrut from that angle...

I've tried a few such landings before - usually poor visibility I can (sort of) deal with, but turbulence I can not.

Ahah, yes hard to land

Broke a couple of Main gears also

Far easier with a proper horizon for the flare

Concerning the rain shaders, I just got rain on the front window, alongside the HUD not on the others windows
What settings did you activate?

There's no special setting, I suppose rain is on by default. Currently it's only done for the six front Windows, not for the upward or rearward facing ones.

Maybe you forgot a git pull at some point?

that looks too large to be Mir on reentry... won't mention the lack of flames on it at that altitude... plus you seem to have something still stuck to your belly for reentry ;)

"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Error / problem with launcher posted to the list.

Well... I did my first TAL, not a pretty landing, but it went well considering it was my first actual entry and landing not counting the approach trainer!
Of course I only did it with the help of the entry autopilot

Screenshots later... I need a cup of tea urgently after that stressful experience

Hi Thorsten,
I was launching today from KSC to practice some contingency aborts to Bermuda. Unfortunately the launch to HST didn't go as planned.

Looking at the launch guidance window, do you see anything obvious that could cause me to initially launch the wrong way, then begin a late roll programme after max qbar causing LOCV?

Edit: It seems that I had the heading set to 90 degrees. That probably explains it... I recall you mentioning why this happens before.

I managed to get to TAL but I did not make it to Bermuda, as I lost left engine as well... crew bailed out. That's three destroyed shuttles to my record

Do I want to know how you did that?

Congrats on the TAL (I'll be a bit short since I'm technically on holiday and sitting at a somewhat erratic internet connection...) - missing Bermuda is quite normal, I only made the third attempt - East Coast abort ought to be easier because you have a choice of runways, so you can upgrade to the next if you see you're not going to make a particular one.

But the lure of Bermuda...
