BOEING 727 DEVELOPMENT
Various polls leaded to the result, that most of the flightgear forum users wanted to improve the 727. So here is the development thread.
What is going to be enhanced?
Modelling, FDM, Systems (a priority list will be made after the finishing of the poll above)
You want to help? Great, just leave a post here and tell us what you want to be.

Hi all!
This project has the goal, to build an aircraft, with every or at least almost every(aircraft)developer involved.
First, there will be many surveys, to find out, what the most people like (e.g. big aircraft/small aircraft/...)
After that, we search for every part of the aircraft a developer/some developers, who are very good in the part(e.g. cockpit, fuselage, FDM, …)
If we are fast, we will be able to put the parts of the aircraft together in maybe about 2 months (just an estimate, please dont kill me if Im to optimistic/pessimistic). For the development, ill open a git repository (as soon as I know how to build one up :) )
So, everyone that is good in building an aircraft, please write here and say, what you can do best.
The surveys will all go about 5 days, the first question is:
What do you like more, planes or helicopters?

Thanks in Advance for all people involved!
D-ECHO

PS: Feel free to tell me any things you dont like or any change you would do...

Hi D-ECHO
I see most of us voted Aircraft over Heli

I don't know what project you have in mind, but I do have a project in mind that would love to have collaborators joining in

Making a plane does not need to be a lonely endeavor, when so many skillsets are required,

Let me know if you have an "aircraft" type in mind, or not, and whether you want to hear what I'd love FG to have.

(On the other hand, remember you can join FGMEMBERs team and develop your aircraft repo within)
Best,

IHCOL

@ IAHM-COL: I had a project in mind of a newbuilt aircraft, with as many contributors involved as possible. I havent got an aircraft type in my mind, I just wanted first to figure out, which aircraft type everybody wants and after that figure together with the whole community a new and innovative aircraft out.
Then, we we got the aircraft, each developer can do his/her part and after that we pull it together...

TO ALL: As a result of the pretty clearly result, the poll will only run till tomorrow evening, then a new one will show up with more questions...

Do you mean like an imaginary plane or a real one? If the latter it will have to be C-Series-- no other unmodelled one.

not to mention the myrid of other partially finished craft ;)

eg: caspian sea monster
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

Although I actually voted for spacecrafts, this is never going to work. The most amazing thing would be to gather able developers and put them to work towards perfecting our current half-finished models. In my opinion, there's only one aircraft that is actually "complete" and that is the 707. All rest need work here and there. This may only happen through Google Summer of Code or something like that.

@ sebulba
The github area is a better way to do that than any google solution I know of

Had you seen the c172p-detailed progress?

Back to topic:

I like the idea of a collaborative new aircraft. I'd like to help out if I can. I'm a novice modeller and texturer. I also spent some time fiddling with xml stuff.

I prefer old props :)
Don't hesitate to let me know if I'm incorrect or just annoying! As long as you do it gently! :)

I tried to test it but the model didn't load in 3.4. Not sure why, so I postponed my testing for when the development reaches a more stable stage. I am looking forward to it and closely monitor its progress. I absolutely agree that the n1 aircraft that developers should start "perfecting" is the little Cesna (for many reasons).

Possibly you may need 3.5 which is the Git version. Some other linux person will help you.

Okay, I think the vote goes clear to Planes (13 votes, 1 vote for heli, 3 votes for spaceships).
Now, there comes the next question: Which type of plane do you like? Glider ?Single propeller? Twin propeller? Four propeller? single engine (jet)?twin engine (jet)? three-engine (jet)? four-engine (jet)? Please write a post if I have forgotten something...

The vote does not work. Pls. Make a new poll in this topic rather than edit the old one.
