Hi Stuart,

I downloaded your EC145 model recently from FGUK and I like it a lot! I have been working on "glass cockpit" instruments for some time http://forum.flightgear.org/viewtopic.php?p=248368 I also implemented a version typically found in modern EC models and I just tried to integrate it into your EC145. Worked like a breeze :-)

I you are happy with me to develop this further towards a full integration into your EC145 model, just contact me through the forum.

Hello,

this is the status so far. As I will pause the development for a few weeks I suggest you can integrate this version into the aircraft in its current state.

Image

I can send you the panel and model files with a README in a zip file.

todo's:
-animate fuel indicator
-ground symbol in alt tape(s)
-to/from annunciator for NAV1 in compass-rose
-glideslope indicator for ILS's
-DA, DH, atm.pressure indicators
-annunciators for autopilot modes
-logic for NAV mode selection and frequency annunciators
(depending on autopilot selected NAVs)

3D model of bezel:
-adjustment of texture
-lightmap for texture to illuminate buttons
-refinemend of 3d model (e.g. 3d buttons)

This is it

(edit) download current version of the panels from later post.

Example integration files for your EC-145 are in the root of the zip. The instrument itself lives in Aircraft/Instruments and Aircraft/Instruments-3d.

Ok Got it thanks.

One small but weird issue though. The displays can be seen from any angle externally, through the fuselage of the aircraft. ?

That's a known issue Stuart, you could solve it with this:
Code: Select all
<animation>
 <type>select</type>
 <object-name>DisplayNameHere</object-name>
 <condition>
  <property>sim/current-view/internal</property>
 </condition>
</animation>

By this code the display will dissappear when you're in a external view and the problem is solved. Had a same kind of problem in my MD902 project.

Hi

OK Stuart, I see the issue too now. This has slipped my attention.

And many thanks to Martien, I will use the workaround in the next version of the instrument.

OK, this does the trick.

Code for the EUcopter-pfd.xml:
Code: Select all
<PropertyList>
  <path>EUcopter-mfd.ac</path>
  <animation>
  <type>select</type>
    <object-name>panel-area</object-name>
    <condition>
          <property>sim/current-view/internal</property>
    </condition>
  </animation>

  <panel>
        <name>panel-area</name>
   <path>Aircraft/Instruments/glass/EUcopter-pfd-panel.xml</path>
        <bottom-left>
            <x-m>0.01</x-m>
            <y-m>-0.076</y-m>
            <z-m>-0.105</z-m>
        </bottom-left>
        <bottom-right>
       <x-m>0.01</x-m>
            <y-m>0.076</y-m>
            <z-m>-0.105</z-m>
        </bottom-right>
        <top-left>
            <x-m>0.01</x-m>
            <y-m>-0.076</y-m>
            <z-m>0.105</z-m>
        </top-left>
    </panel>
</PropertyList>

Note your "over the shoulder" view was defined als internal=false. This needs to be changed to true to see the panels in the over the shoulder view.

Hi Stuart,

I am proceeding with the engine information display/MFD2 for the EC145 at the moment. I am struggeling a bit to get the engine torque values right as YASIM does not provide individual engine torque. My current approach would be to 'redistribute' rotor or (better) gear box torque to the individual engines depending on their power settings and power turbine speeds (n2).

There are /rotors/gear/total-torque and /rotors/main/torque exposed to the property tree by YASIM . Doing some approximation from existing engine datasheets (Turbomeca Arriel 1E2 : 900 Nm @ 6000 rpm power shaft speed) it seems the /rotors/main/torque can indeed be a torque value in Nm, however /rotors/gear/total-torque does not at all fit in a realistic range for torque. I suspect that this may rather be the power at the main gearbox in Watts? I had a brief look in the YASIM rotors code but with little success.

Do you have an idea or do you have a contact who knows internals of the YASIM rotors code and was able to enlight me and probably review my engine torque calculations?

Litzi, if you ask on the development mailing list, you might just get the attention of the YASIM author (though he is rarely around). Otherwise, there are a few others who might know the answer to your question there.

@StuartC, I would like doors that can in that helicopter. Can I cut them out in the model and animate them?
