Let's improve the 737-300 cockpit!

Postby flyingfisch » Thu Oct 30, 2014 3:15 pm

I am going to try improving the 737-300's cockpit in my spare time. I have forked and changed the bulkhead and cockpit door textures. My spare time is somewhat limited, so I may not get anywhere very fast, but I will definitely make an effort.

If anyone would like to help, that would be great. One of the first things I am seeing that could be improved is the lack of switches, especially the ones between the pilot seats. They are all marked out in the textures, so all you have to do is make the model and edit the xml accordingly.

My fork is here: https://github.com/flyingfisch/737-300

In case anyone is interested, here is the new door texture:

you should post it on the 737-300 forum thread, so the ones who are lready improving this aircraft could also get in touch
also, i was thinking about working on the 733 too, using some textures from 707-420. i was modeling a galley for it, later i will try to post screenshots

Sounds good, also, I can't seem to find the 737-300 forum thread, can you point me to it?

if this should involve adding Gijs' ND to the cockpit, please update the ND article accordingly to list the 737-300 there.

However, Soitanen is already working on it, according to: http://wiki.flightgear.org/Canvas_ND_Fr ... ft_Support

legoboyvdlp, you should work on Soitanen's model. His 733 is already far far ahead compared to the default one... Please consider that if you don't mind.

Sorry but I am the worst possible developer lol. My "ceiling" (Read "The Camels Are Coming"!!!!) is AI traffic/scenarios or liveries. I cannot do modelling mainly because no 3d modeller or enough canvas/nasal/etc. PS is soitanens the one that has a warning about landing weight exceeding?? I got my 733 from git...

I would suggest looking through this active thread: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=20647
I contains discussion of the work done by both e-pilot and Soitanen on the 737-300. Most of the work so far is systems and FDM related, so your suggested modeling work would compliment nicely, I think.

So I worked a little on this tonight, just making the cockpit a little darker since bright white is hard on the eyes. Unfortunately I couldn't get Blender (current or 2.49b) to cooperate with saving as .ac so I had to edit it line-by-line, which I am actually somewhat comfortable with doing now, 4 hours later.

I may try doing textures next, we'll see.

Which 733 is this?
As tikibar said, and as far as I know, there are at least 3 models out there, so this is a fair question.

Where did you get your model?
Thanks

I would PM soitanen for pushing access so you can work ttogether because its already 3 variants! and now 4... soon 5 with the SP project.

so if you backup your changes, get push access, then add your changes it will be better for all wouldnt it?
