perhaps he means that a bug report should be filed on the tracker so the devs can look into the problem?

"Why not?" said Gurder.

Sure

Please read on at http://forum.flightgear.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=25797 ... where we try to find a solution and made some advance already ;-)

It is just so frustrating to make a bug report and then wait forever ...

yeah, i just read that... the problem i see is making a workaround that might be broken when the devs fix the actual internal problem... granted, "we" can't rush the devs but filing a bug report is the best way to get their attention... it also puts the problem out there where it won't be forgotten so that someone can take a dive into that part of the code to see what's happening... i would include pointers to both this topic and the one where you are working on the workaround in the bug report... especially if the work around is able to deal with the problem ;)

Hi,

Thank you for fixing the tooltip bug and for all other updates you pushed in the meantime. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to fly much in the last weeks, but I'm afraid the NaN nasal crash is still there. The following was obtained with FG 3.5 and version 8057ffd96bfe4a87d5aa02dbdee98fab75d4a04e (from Tue Apr 21 01:15:16 2015 +0200) of the ec130b4.

Hello

A quick update on EC130 B4 ...

The current state of development repository was pushed to FG 3.6 by HHS.
See the Wiki for what was done recently: http://wiki.flightgear.org/Eurocopter_EC130_B4#Updates_as_of_FG_3.6_version

Sorry, that the Nasal crash is still unsolved. I have no clue for the reason.

there's still a month left to *fix bugs* in the craft... just don't add new features and you may get the bug worked out in time for the 3.6 release...

Hello,

Thanks for the updates. I posted a video where the main stars are the EC130 and the LOWI scenery. Could be thought as “promotional material” for the EC130 in some way. :wink:

I hope you'll like it.

As for the Nasal crash, yes, I still have it from time to time, not only in MP mode. I have not tried to trace the relevant properties yet. At some point I was going to do it, but I realized the property I wanted to look at was not defined in the EC130 code. I suppose it was defined by yasim (one of the speed-related properties...). I have no experience in tracing FG properties, so I don't know if it can be done for something like that. Have you tried the tracing (fgfs --trace-write=property...)?

Bye

Hello rominet ... (or should I say F-KATS)

I lack words to express my thankfulness for this video. :)
It was such a pleasure to see you flying round the beautiful LOWI scenery and I have to say that you have very good helicopter flying skills :D
Your explanations are more than helpful. I have seen a lot of exciting details in LOWI scenery I didn't know and I will check soon for the wonderful new additions ...

I am humbled by the positive feedback ( :oops: ) and thanks for all the compliments and for mentioning so many details.

Happy flying and make sure to try the searchlight of the MAC rescue version, especially at night :wink:

That was one long video! But mostly worth it. :)

Nice also to see attributions in the end. :)

And last but not least: Chip tunes is something I really, really enjoy. 8)

(@mhab: F-KATS is how I appear on MP, rominet is just the forum login...)

Thanks for the positive feedback too!

Concerning the LOWI scenery:
  • I can't guarantee everything shown in the video is on TerraSync, as I have the directory corresponding to https://gitorious.org/fgfs-custom-scene ... verlay.git in my scenery path (BTW, if someone knows if this repo is available somewhere else now that gitorious.org is closed...).
  • The video has been in standby, half-finished, for several months and meanwhile, I learnt a few things:
    • You can have light at night on the LOJO helipad (where I start the two main flights) by tuning COM2 to 121.875 (“OAMTC main helipad lights”);
    • During the video, I stop in front of a truck because I know it may do interesting things (has an articulated arm). However, it didn't move unfortunately when I was shooting, and now I think that was probably because I had turned off “animated jetways” in the rendering options. Too bad...

Concerning the search light: yes, I've tried it, but I don't really know what to do with it :lol: . Does it work over MP?

@Johan G: yup, I love the chiptune music! (http://rolemusic.sawsquarenoise.com/)

Hello,
I finally managed to get it started! :D
Formidable helicopter!

If, like me, you are fed up that your helicopter make the ground spinner, add this to "ec130.nas".
Code: Select all
##############Anti ground rotation######################
var corr = 0.12;

var change_wow = func {
var wow = getprop("/gear/gear/wow");
var rud = "/controls/flight/rudder";

if (wow == 1) setprop(rud, corr);

settimer(change_wow, 0.25);
}
change_wow();

It is certainly not perfect, but it works :wink:

Glad you could discover this heli, ctesc356! Thanks for the tip to avoid sliding on the ground, however it seems to run at regular intervals, thus I suppose it could reduce frame rate a bit, no?..

Here are references to the two patches I mentioned in the video, for those who would like to try: customizable persistent views and adjusting throttle with the mouse wheel (with default sensitivity controlled by a property).
