Hi,

The ec130 models are recognized as helicopters and displayed as helis in the map.

Great, thank you! This may sound like a small detail, but should make it much easier to spot fellow heli flyers on the MP nework. :)

Hello again

I added a minimum fuel step to the tutorial, a min fuel condition in the checklist, and fixed the missing rotorbrake/cutoff levers in H130 variant.

Thanks for reporting this.

While we are at it, starting recent FG 2016.2.0 with the ec130b4 from GitLab prints:
Code: Select all
Failed to load file: "Models/Aircraft/marker.xml"

This is due to a recent change in FG (the file is now at Aircraft/Generic/marker.xml, apparently). All FGAddon aircraft have been updated accordingly. I wonder if it would be possible to have this depend on the FG version in your GitLab repo, i.e. : the correct path would be chosen at FG runtime (old path with FG < 2016.2.0, new path otherwise; we don't care about "old" 2016.2.0 before the change: users of development versions should have no problem upgrading in order to get problems fixed).

This is maybe difficult to do, I have no idea. But if some wizard in aircraft development knows...

Hello

Thanks for the info. I will update it once FG 2016.2 is out and most likely will not make it compatible.

Personal remark: I don't understand why things of so general impact are changed by the core team. And what is the gain of moving the file ?
So instead of asking aircraft developers to waste time for compatibilty code, a compatibility question should be better asked in the dev forum.
Of course the dev forum is a world on it's own and by far not as usable as this forum here :-(

Hello

I pushed a "kind-of-a fix" for the tutorial incompatibilities to gitlab version.
I try to load marker.xml from both paths and get an error for the wrong one, but it should work then, I think ...
If you like try it ...

the main gain is to move some things out of the fgdata making for a smaller installation package... these files are moved to terrasync where they are downloaded if they are needed... it also helps to eliminate duplicated items... just like KSFO was in both fgdata and terrasync and they were somewhat different... now that KSFO is no longer in fgdata and only in terrasync, everything is the same for everyone using the new versions of fgfs...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

In this precise case (marker.xml), I think the goal was to avoid having this file duplicated in many places (in scenery at least; I am not sure concerning aircraft—I don't think it has been explained in great length, or I missed the thing). If you (mhab) want to voice your opinion or ask questions about such changes in a timely manner, you should subscribe to the flightgear-devel mailing list...

Guys, I want to ask. What is the key to control the collective?

Hello,

It's Page Down to increase the collective, Page Up to decrease it. Normally, all helis work like this in FG.

You're welcome, Kristogratia. A few more infos:
  • For some helis, you'll have to press } 3 times at the beginning of your flight session before pressing Page Down will do anything (like with planes); for the ec130b4 specifically, there are many tutorials in the Help menu.
  • It is probably extremely difficult to control this heli with only the keyboard. If you don't have joystick + rudder pedals, and would like a relatively cheap setup, you may want to listen to the suggestions in the video below (already posted here in 2015).
  • The ec130b4 uses AltGr for some key bindings, which doesn't work well in FG on all operating systems (last time I checked here on Linux, it was treated the same way as Alt, if I remember correctly). I believe it should be fine on Windows, but if you have this problem, you may want to rebind the functions so they use a different modifier key.
Happy flying!
