LCA-Tejas

Postby Fahim Dalvi » Wed Oct 01, 2008 11:17 am

Hi All,
Great Thanks to Xsaint, who bought this Aircraft under my view, The LCA is India's Second Military Aircraft.
I have worked a lot on the model, though this actually being my first full aircraft model, is a little hard..i have done half the wings, the body(needs a little cleaning) and tail. If someone could just model the rest i am ready to do the cutout, cockpit, FDM, effects etc...
LCA.JPG

I have attached the *.ac file
LCA.zip

Its has the scale drawings in the model itself, with correct dimensions. So if anyone can complete it, its Great....

Thanks

Hi Fahim.....

Great work!! Looks promising. LCA is supposedly the world's smallest modern fighter jet which has semi stealth capabilities with good payloads.
I hope we can see this little jet flying across the skies in FG.....
Good luck and good work...

cheers!

Ok, I'm going to try to help rework the fuselage since I was asked nicely. I'm seeing some problems, but I'm not sure if it's how the model is or my lack of Blender knowhow in the conversion process. (I just used the default settings for .ac import and .obj export.) I got it converted to .obj and imported into Wings3D. But now it's a whole bunch of cylindrical sections that will have to be merged into a more uniform mesh. Also it's a bit off center and not aligned to the Z-axis. The plan views for reference came though ok, so it might make some things a little easier.

Also I found a neat article in Wikipedia by googling the aircraft name. It's nice to have a little background on it.

Which Dave would that be? (I think there's over a dozen on the members list.) Does he frequent the forums? Or is he one of those mailing-list only people?

Attached the current progress anyways. Not sure if it converted properly (just using default settings in Blender). It still might have some uses. (Least you could get out of it is some areas of neat edge-flow in areas I finished altering or stitching together. Original mesh bits weren't too bad to work with once glued together. Still in need of some good manual tweaking in areas such as the complex curve in the wing surfaces that the plans don't show well and I didn't get to adding the nacelles yet.)

This just barely squeaks by under the attachment limitations. Attachment is in .obj this time, because I know Wings 3D exports to .obj with no problems. (Apparently its not knowing what needs to be set to go from .obj to .ac properly in Blender that's my problem.) Still, Dave's done quite a bit of work too (and he had a head start). There should be some consolidation of the two.

-----Edit-----
A quickie test render of this .obj in Carrara and a little postwork added for text. Just having some fun with it.

Hi All,
Ok. I combined, mine, pauls, and dave's model, to form a very good plane. I fired up a quick FDM for it yesterday, although I have to work a lot on it. Here is a pic of the bird over a mach in FG.

Hope you Enjoy It!

Looks great!

Also looks hella fast, it seems to have ripped the space-time continuum in front of it! :D :D
