Did you rename the folder "MD-11" after you unzip the file?

@superlou
When you download something from GIT, it will add "-master" since you are downloading the master branch.

You must rename the folder to just "MD-11"

I'm embarrassed. As soon as you mentioned it, I remembered it from older installs. I was just used to the launcher not seeing the aircraft at all if the folder name didn't match, so thought maybe that wasn't necessary in the 2016.1 release.

Thanks!

a dollar to a donut says that you didn't remove "-master" from the name of the directory of the craft ;)
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

An update:

FL2070 is possible making a good sound pack for this plane.
I succesfully merged the gears, so with the new version on FGMEMBERS, center gear should appear over MP.
Fixed tyre smoke
Removed EPR from EAD, GE engine MD-11s do not have this, I plan to make a PW variant, so I kept the old one as well
Landing lights can be independently controlled
Autopilot fixes
Nav display error fixed
Correct the Emergency Power knob, it no longer controls APU, now operates /controls/switches/emgpwr which I will implement into electrical system soon
Added standby altimeter
Corrected elevator animation, the trim now moves the entire stabilizer

Planned changes:
More autopilot and autoland tuning
Autothrottle does not disconnect at 100ft, instead idles throttles at 50ft. (real one does this)
Autospoilers
More overhead controls/systems
More corrections on instruments
Rudder position on EAD_2, possibly other screens available
FDM improvements

The new EAD for GE engines:

More to come soon!

You should consider merging my version into yours before you repeat any more work. For example, I fixed the APU (took it off the emergency power knob and set up its own buttons) over a year ago. This is why it helps to contact the maintainers before you take over a project.

In any case, I'm completely reworking the FDMs now. I'll post here when they're ready to go.
Boeing 747-8 (rename folder to 747-8i)
Boeing 757-200/300 (rename folder to 757-200)
Boeing 767-300/ER (rename folder to 767-300)
McDonnell Douglas MD-11 (rename folder to MD-11)

I know you did that, I always pull before pushing. But you just commented it out, I attached it two a property controls/switches/emgpwr, so it rotates on autostart, and I will soon make it work in the electrical system.

The FDM needs serious work, I'm not to good at FDMs (as you know) But be aware that I changed the gear section to:
Code: Select all
 <!-- Nosegear -->
    <gear x="20.6395" y="0.0" z="0.7" compression="0.4" spring="0.8" damp="4.0">
    <!-- up to 70 degrees max steering angle with tiller, input is limited to 7 degrees with rudder (see Nasal/ground_steering.nas) -->
   <control-input control="STEER" axis="/controls/gear/nosegear-steering-cmd-norm" src0="-1.0" dst0="-1.2217304764" src1="1.0" dst1="1.2217304764" />
   <control-output control="STEER" prop="/controls/gear/nosegear-steering-angle-rad" />
   <control-input axis="/controls/gear/gear-down" control="EXTEND"/>
   <control-output control="EXTEND" prop="/gear/gear[0]/position-norm"/>
   <control-speed control="EXTEND" transition-time="15"/>
    </gear>
    <!-- Left main gears -->
    <gear x="-4.7637" y="-5.3128" z="0.65" compression="0.7" spring="0.6" damp="1.0">
   <control-input axis="/controls/gear/brake-left" control="BRAKE"/>
   <control-input axis="/controls/gear/brake-parking" control="BRAKE"/>
   <control-input axis="/controls/gear/gear-down" control="EXTEND"/>
   <control-output control="EXTEND" prop="/gear/gear[1]/position-norm" />
   <control-speed control="EXTEND" transition-time="19" />
    </gear>
    <!-- Right main gears -->
    <gear x="-4.7637" y="5.3128" z="0.65" compression="0.7" spring="0.6" damp="1.0">
   <control-input axis="/controls/gear/brake-right" control="BRAKE"/>
   <control-input axis="/controls/gear/brake-parking" control="BRAKE"/>
   <control-input axis="/controls/gear/gear-down" control="EXTEND"/>
   <control-output control="EXTEND" prop="/gear/gear[2]/position-norm" />
   <control-speed control="EXTEND" transition-time="19" />
    </gear>
    <!-- Center gear -->
    <gear x="-4.7637" y="0" z="0.5586" compression="0.7" spring="0.6" damp="1.0">
   <control-input axis="/controls/gear/brake-left" control="BRAKE"/>
   <control-input axis="/controls/gear/brake-parking" control="BRAKE"/>
   <control-input axis="/controls/gear/gear-down" control="EXTEND"/>
   <control-output control="EXTEND" prop="/gear/gear[3]/position-norm" />
   <control-speed control="EXTEND" transition-time="15" />
    </gear>

So the nose gear is [0], left is [1], right is [2], and center is [3]
So now all three gears show up over MP, if you have the latest at https://github.com/it0uchpods/MD-11 you may want to update yours off of mine if you wish, I have improved several systems including autoflight to make them more realistic.

Progress:

Autospoilers can be armed bu clicking the spoiler lever, disarmed by clciking again, and they deploy on touchdown, press ctrl+B to retract them.
Autobreak tested: working
flaps fixed, first settings is 15, not 22. (no dial a flap yet, I do plan to add that soon though!)
autothrottle idles at 100ft, if flaps are 35 or greater. disconnects at 20ft.
Added CONFIG warning to EAD

Pushed to GIT.

Very nice work jormapaappa, tikibar, and itouchpods, some issues I noticed:

Cannot flare very much, or the plane climbs
some things on PFD are invisable
autopilot vertical speed takes FOREVER
alt capture is very buggy
your guide says the emergency ap disconnect works, but it does not.

cheers

Glad you liked it, its my favorite aircraft.
tikibar is redoing the FDM, I cant do FDM work for crap. :oops:
Hmm, I will look at the PFD, and redo the AP section.
I will fix, thanks for bringing it to my attention.

It's going to take a while. I'm moving to a new house right now. My internet connection moves tomorrow, but my computer not till next week. I'm almost done tuning the approach, but haven't flown over 9000 feet yet.

I'll look at tuning the vs mode once the FDM is up and running. They're related tasks.

@tikibar

Great, if you want, I can tune the VS, I made it work pretty well, which is pushed to my repo, so it seems OK for now, I can help you out once the FDM is done. I am decent in AP tuning.

Maybe you want to merge my cockpit changes? I implemented quite a bit of things. http://www.github.com/it0uchpods/MD-11

Thanks for work.

With the latest the center gear goes over MP correctly, and the autothrottle is fixed!

Tikibar I pulled your fix into my repo as well. So mine is currently the most up to date.
