As well the APOFF in the dialog doesn't cancel the AP warning?

Good find. I have fixed all those things now.

When I was doing the lights over MP, I saw that the wheels are now under ground a little bit too. Which is weird because they didn't look that way when I tunded it. I guess it needs a little more tuning. You want to try your hand at it?

@tikibar
Great, thanks.

I'll give it a try.

Is it OK if I separate the landing light switches again?

Thanks,
Josh

No! The light maps won't work that way. Really, how often would you need to have the left on and not the right?

Oh OK.

I put the gear compression over MP. The gear is now flat on the ground... odd.

Can you check it? Is it flat for you as well now?

@tikibar
AFDS.nas BUG: Please go to Location --> Position Aircraft in air. Put 25000 ft, and 250kts. There comes a Nasal error, either right away, or when pushing FLCH, since the AP puts a strange alt (13200?)
Sadly I don't have the line numbers right now, I was in a hurry.

Also the apdisc sound comes in the replay, and when switching views.... odd
Replays also cause alot of nasal errors:

Those errors in your screen shot are related to the canvas ND and are not coded in the MD-11 package. I may at some point take a look at the canvas ND code and see if I can find a fix, but since it doesn't seem to affect the performance of any of the aircraft with the canvas ND beyond some unsightly error messages, it's low priority.

I fixed the disconnect sound in the replay. That was pretty irritating. I don't hear the sound when switching views, so I can't comment on that at all.

I also can't reproduce the AFDS bug. Everything works fine when I follow the instructions you give. No nasal errors in the console.

The landing gear looks fine now for me.

@tikibar
I think the problem was gear compression, which I fixed.

The sound played after exiting replay and switching views. It's fixed now.

Hmm odd the AFDS is fine now.

I will note that I pushed FLCH a few times quickly, could that have caused it?

So... what's next?

4aca0ae contains an error I made in the -main file. (I said -set file in the commit, it's actually the -main file)

I put />/> when it should have been />

Doesn't seem to cause any errors, but ya never know ya know?

I fixed a bug in the FDM related to the landing gear. The left and right gear were switched so that pressing the right side brake would engage the brake on the left, and vice versa. That is now rectified. I've also done a bit of work on the external lighting adding wing lights and fixing the flashing patterns for the strobes and beacons.

Josh, I've done a few test flights recently, and I'm still finding the mach with pitch to be overly aggressive. It does a fine job of holding the commanded mach, but if you increase the target mach, the vertical speed drops to zero, and sometimes even goes negative. Going negative has an adverse effect on the automatic fuel system. To reproduce, try this: climb to FL270 in IAS mode and 295 kts. When you reach FL270, switch to mach and increase the target mach to 0.760.

@tikibar
That explains some things.

OK, I haven't used the Mach by pitch at all really, I'll try it out and see what I can do.

In for autoland, what would be needed is for the AFDS.nas to set the vertical mode to autoland or something at around 150ft. My system starts the autoland process with a setlistener on the pitch mode. Is this able to implement?

EDIT: Is the pitch going below the horizon for you? It shouldn't go below 2-3 degrees. Even when I extremely place weight on the front, or overload the plane, the AP keeps the pitch nicely above 2deg, holding a V/S of about 500FPM at FL31X, with the current Mach 0.81, target mach 0.999 (impossible number, just for testing). Can you save your FGtape and sendme?
The mach controller is actually a little Lazy in my opinion, so I'm a little confused.

Thanks,
Josh

I've attempted to solve it with the same workaround I used in the next beta of IT-AUTOFLIGHT: by upscaling the Mach x1000. This should make it react like the IAS by pitch, since 0.865 would be 865 for the controller.

I also renamed my controllers so I can identify them easier. (for autoland prep + fully working VNAV on the way)
