MD-11 is definitely still a work in progress. Not sure about contrails, but I don't think they've been added yet. The Nav display uses features that are available only in FG v3.0 and later, so it won't work in 2.10, unfortunately. Development on it is going slowly at the moment because the people working on it are concentrating on other projects and/or real life at the moment.

It is true,
MD-11 is still under development as we are trying to increase the fps to allow it to run smoothly on normal computers ( which I have) and more bug fixes. Features are also expected and liveries applies. So stay tuned for more updates.
Cheers

Hello there,

I tried the MD-11 and I must say that this is an amazing aircraft! However, there seem to be an error with the altitude indicator on the PFD. The background of the indicator moves and gives the correct altitude, but the strip which gives the instant altitude stays at 0 feet and does not move.

Hope this error can be fixed soon. :D

Thanks!

hello everybody, I have some problems with the electrical system and the yasim version, the battery knob doesn't work and the APU start button doesn't work, and also if I start the aircraft I get the announcement that the aircraft doesn't use the latest version of yasim. any solutions for this? Thanks :D

In the current version, the emergency power knob on the electrical panel (left side, OFF-ARM-ON) is rigged to start/stop the APU. This is incorrect and will be fixed eventually, but that's how it is for the moment. It takes about a minute for the APU to spin up. Then you can turn on the APU generator with the APU PWR button in the middle of the electrical panel. The battery button just above the knob turns the battery on and off.

The yasim version thing is not a problem. The FDM hasn't been configured for the more recent version of yasim. It works fine on the older version.

Nice work! The model looks really lovely, infact we would like to use it in another freeware project for X-Plane, could you please PM me if you're interested? (I couldn't message you because I just signed up).

Kindest Regards,

Erm... I don't think X-Plane is quite compatible with Flightgear though so maybe you have to rework the MD-11 form scratch :-( I would love to if I can convert it though

Before you use it, check under what conditions the present license of the model allows a redistribution.

FlightGear is GPL. That means you may use it, copy it, sell it, without asking although you have to release it as gpl, and it IS nice to ask.

@legoboy
Flightgear is GPL. But, as you astutely pointed out in reference to Omega95's A330, not all aircraft are. So before you give use permission for someone else's work, you might want to check into how it's licensed. In the case of this MD-11, the licensing is not clear, so it is more than just "nice" to ask.

edit: I have contacted the original author to see if he will approve or deny the above request or release the model by GPL. So, stand by.

Hi,

As the original author of the plane I say that the plane is released under GPL license so anyone can improve it. However if you pick this project, I would be greatly grateful if you credited me in your project description.

I've done a whole bunch of work on the MD-11 recently, and I have the updated version hosted in my GitHub fork of the aircraft here. I added contrails, fixed up the PFD (including the altimeter problem mentioned by Zhuangt98 above), fixed the function of the APU, updated the autopilot a bit, and made a few updates on the nav display. I also reworked the FDM, and while not perfect, the aircraft flies much better now. Enjoy!
