The Radios are not working on the latest version of Flightgear 2020.1.1. The numbers on the radios doesn't show up.

Could someone take a look into this??

They work on my version of the Twin Otter on FG 2020.1.1 (Ubuntu 18.01). Ensure you turn up the radio brightness on the right side of the overhead panel.

On FG 2018.3.6, the landing lights don't appear to function, even with ALS enabled and all shaders and stuff set to max. Not a big deal, but makes it a bit difficult to see at night.
Get my custom FG liveries here: https://flightgearhusky.altervista.org/

I'm off at college so I've stopped making liveries (for the time being, at least), but I'm continuing to ensure compatibility for the ones I've already published.

ALS Landing lights work only on asphalt and concrete surfaces. Requires setting adjustments.
Select Menu -> View -> Rendering Options
Enable "Custom Settings" under "Shader Effects".
Select "Shader Options" and increase "Landmass" setting.

I checked to make sure the settings were correct (they were) and same result. However, the landing lights do appear to work with the Pirate version, just not the default, which is sort of odd. Oh well.

Pirate version is at https://github.com/SurferTim/dhc6p
The FG hangar version was updated with my version, but not completely.

P.S. You can install both the standard hangar DHC6 and the PirateAir models on the same computer. The folder names are different.

I added a second ADF receiver to the Twin Otter, both the FGADDON version and the PirateAir/SurferTim Version of the aircraft.

My primary post about the modification and the download link for the files is in the development / aircraft section of the forum.

Dan, if you're still here, and to anyone else interested, I've made some mods to the FGADDON Twin Otter which include a GPS-NAV1 slave switch in the 3d cockpit.

Some mods to SurferTim's Twin Otter, posted here with his permission.

1. Add ADF2, slave Copilot's RMI ADF needle to ADF2.
In this image, both ADFs are on and tuned and each RMI is tracking its respective NDB.

2. Add GPS-NAV1 slave switch to the 3d cockpit. Some issues with placard text, but the mod functions properly.

Hello to all,

Here is a mod update to install an audio panel into the SurferTim Twin Otter:

Image

This is the readme file included in the zip package:

Code: Select all
Readme - March 8, 2021 mods for SurferTim's Twin Otter

Mods were applied to the dhc6p-master.zip downloaded on March 8, 2021 from SurferTim's github.

I could not find a revision file in his aircraft, but the the MD5 checksum of that zip package is :

B6CAF60393388B0581F7DD92E87F1E86

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All of SurferTim's files modified by me are included and have a " .SWBAK " extension.

Mods:

1.  Moved the ELT and the Floats/wheels gear control to make room for the KMA20 audio panel.
2.  Installed the KMA20 audio panel.

This mod update also includes the GPS/NAV1 slave switch mod posted previously in this thread.

Known issues with the GPS/NAV1 Slave placard text:

The OSG text sometimes glows white, sometimes orange depending on lighting conditions.
There is a fix coming for that: Jonathan (DG-505) has created a placard object
which solved the problem before he commited my mods of the FGADDON version of the aircraft.
So the solution may already be available in the commited sourceforge files.   I plan to install that solution into the SurferTim version of the aircraft as soon as I can as it is simpler, more elegant and looks nicer.

Feedback, corrections and suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and thank you for your interest in the mods.

The MD5 Checksum:

Pending very soon with special thanks to Jonathan (DG-505) for creating a placard object to replace the OSG text :

[EDIT #1 March 16 ]
line 576 of dhc6-base.xml must be changed from:

to:
<file>Aircraft/dhc6p/Models/Flightdeck/Instruments/kma20_AudioPanel/KMA20_AudioPanel.nas</file>
Thank you varjat for the correction.

Patch needed to correct errors and omissions in the KMA20_AudioPanel.nas file.
In that file, line 109 is blank. Replace everthing below line 109 with the following:

Hello to everyone,

Here are some new mods for the SurferTim version of the twin otter. Mod details are in the readme text posted below the pictures.

Copilot's panel:
Image

F12 dialog box:
Image

Readme file (included in the zip package):
Code: Select all
Readme - March 15, 2021

Modifications to the SurferTim/PirateAir version
of the DHC6 Twin Otter.

***************  Notes ************************

The mods were applied to the SurferTim version downloaded from his git hub on March 08, 2021.
For ID, the MD5 checksum of that .zip file is:  B6CAF60393388B0581F7DD92E87F1E86

The mods were tested in FG 2020.3.3 on all variants of the aircraft on a
Windows 7 computer with integrated intel graphics.  The mods are working properly
on that system.

All of SurferTim's original files are included in the mod package and have the extension ".15MarchBAK" .

*************** The Modifications ********************

1.  Copilot's panel now has its own CDI instruments for VOR1 and VOR2.
The Copilot can now navigate fully in any IFR scenario.

2.  "Cold, Dark and Silent" mod:
Floatplane gear lamps, RMI panel lamps and the GPS/NAV1 slave lamp are now controlled by their respective
breakers, buses and the pilot's panel overhead dimmer knob. Autopilot switch lamps are also controlled but do not
pass through the pilot's dimmer knob. Audio panel marker lights treated likewise.

3.  F12 radio dialog box now includes volume control for the DME and the marker beacon.
And for all radios, a visual feedback text box showing the numeric value of each radio's volume.
And full control for the KMA20 audio panel knob and switches.

(Includes all MODS previously submitted in the forum's Twin Otter development topic, as follows):

4.  ADF2 added, and Copilot's RMI listens to ADF2.

5.  KMA20 audio panel added.

6.  COM1 and COM2 PTT to transmit by pressing the keyboard space bar.  The knob on the KMA20
audio panel selects the active transmitter.

7.  NAV1/GPS slave switch and lamp indicator added to Pilot's and Copilot's panels.

**********************************************************************

Feedback is always welcomed, and thank you for looking.

[EDIT] I forgot to mention in the readme, the mod now turns off the fuel boost pumps during autoshutdown. Hence the "silent" part of the "Cold, dark and silent" mod.

Thanks for looking!

Thank you guys for the excellent updates.
Could you check path to KMA20 audiopanel nasal file, it should be 'Aircraft/dhc6p/Models/Flightdeck/Instruments/kma20_AudioPanel/KMA20_AudioPanel.nas instead of Aircraft/dhc6p/Models/Flightdeck/Instruments/KMA20_AudioPanel/KMA20_AudioPanel.nas
Thank you.
