Josh will be a sad loss to the community, He was a significant person in the flightgear team on models and flight dynamics

The last main developer of the 777 was Hyde, but I didn't get any feedback from him since september or october. Josh re-implemented the 777's autopilot in coorfination with Hyde, but they both had their own private repository. I always went through Hyde to get my modifications committed. This means that not every modification of the last year made it to FGaddon. A new maintainer of the official 777 repo would be great. I'll be looking into some systems too (e.g. Modify and extend the checklist with the new checklist grouping feature (see mailinglist)). As I don't have much experience, I always like that someone reviews my modifications before they are committed to the official hangar, so I'd welcome an active maintainer. :-)

It's not accurate to claim the community lost Josh, rather the forum lost Josh. He is actively working on his projects, this can be verified by looking at github repos commits.

I guess forking the 777 when the time comes would be a last resort.

It would be nice if someone starts to further develop this 777. Also, my team were still working on the CDU of the 777 which is available on gitlab(see previous post).

I can happily announce that I 'll introduce the autopushback feature (see mailing list) to the 777. The logic isn't my achievement, but I 've successfully implemented it yesterday locally and will try to contribute it to the official repo. It adds a lot to the immersion when you can just sit in the cockpit, starting up the engines while the ground crew pushes you onto the taxiway.

I 've been flying with Josh's autopilot modifications locally for some time, but I think the last update didn't make it to the repo, so I 'll try to add that too once I get commit access.

Regarding the CDU: It would be of great benefit if we can get the updates into the main repo. It would be a pity if our beautiful 777 gets split with different features in different repo's. Is it ready to commit them or are you still developing?

Hi Issak
My team is still developing the CDU and it's quite unstable for now. We will be happy to commit it to the Hyde's repo once it get developed and stable.

Also I'm glad to heard about the progress you had made. Do you have your repo or something so that we could download and try?

Best Regards,
Sidi

Now you can get the coordinate by entering gate number in CDU.

Quick update:
- The 777 now has a functional mode-S transponder over MP, including a functional IDENT button.
- sanhozay fixed a long standing bug where the fly-by view would break and the pilot position moved when looking around in an external view. It was caused by a bug tied to adjusting the minimums. Thanks for finding that nasty bug!
