I didn't even think about raising the issue, as I thought it might be a bit of code that you had altered to make the flying more realistic!!! Sometimes difficult to tell what is a piece of code to make the realism better or a bug!!! :D

Hi, the bug with trim seems fixed, thanks Josh ;)

One thing seems abnormal. During takeoff, LNAV, VNAV are activated. Around 1000 or 1500 ft I activate the PA. As soon as I remove a flap, the plane decreases its attitude. It does not seem logical to me. I prepare a video that shows the effect.

and to compare, the same flight in Xplane:

These two videos are not intended to decry this or that simulator. The aim is to see if one of them has a questionable behavior on a flight phase.
I love the T7 that's all

Hi. That is normal operation. Do you understand that VNAV SPD is a speed by pitch mode? The plane hold airspeed with pitch, and as you see, when the flaps are retracted, the airspeed target increases, so it will pitch down a bit until reaching that. The throttles in this mode stay near full throttle for climb, and near idle for descents.

Kind Regards,
Josh

Hi,
thanks for your answer. I have edited my post and added two videos to "compare" two T7: Xplane and Fg T7 in takeoff phase and flaps retract.

I understand your explanation, thanks.

Well, from my end it works correctly. I did not work on the speed itself increasing, so I wouldn't know. If Hyde adjusts how that is done, it can be corrected, but my end is the actually "doing" part of the autopilot.

Kind Regards,
Josh

Thanks for your answer and your great job on 777 autopilot. If Hyde can see for the "pomping effect" when we decrease flaps :)

I don't know if this is an issue or not Josh, But after take off in this version when I climb out after take off at around 1000 ft I'll click the A/P button after retracting the gear and flaps at a nice steady 1500 - 2000 FPM climb, Once I click the A/P The plane goes into a "manic" climb of anything upto 7000FPM!!!! I my view a 777 isn't a supersonic fighter capable of near vertical climb is it!!! Once the plane has neared the stall speed it will "nose down" to a more sedate 1500 - 3500 FPM climb I guess this isn't "normal" is it? Cheers Clive

Clive,

As in reality you can't "throw" an airplane on the autopilot. You have to activate the autopilot with settings that ± match the current flight state. This means: centered on the FD-bars if you use the Flight Director (as the autopilot will try to center on them) or with a roll and pitch that ± match what the autopilot would do in the same situation. You 'll get the best results by having the wings ± level and press the VS-button just prior to activating the autopilot. In this way the autopilot won't have to recover from a state that it doesn't want to be in at the time of activation. In reality pilots don't activate the autopilot when the plane is not matching the flight state the autopilot is commanding at that time. Consider handing over your plane to the autopilot as you would do to another pilot: you won't be handing over the plane to a copilot in a state you don't want to be in when he is not expecting to receive it. Nonetheless this could be a bug, but I've never experienced it and have quite some hours in the 777 on my counter.

By the way: I demonstrated the 777 in a semicircular setup with 8 screens connected to two computers in a master-slave setup at FSweekend in Lelystad this weekend (see FlightGear on Facebook for some pictures) and got all kinds of compliments, both of the plane itself and of the autopilot. Many current FSX (or other simulators) users were impressed by both the level of detail, the systems and autopilot, and the handling of the aircraft. A lot of encouragement for me to contribute more to the airplane and a lot of compliments for all the contributors who brought it to the current state! Keep up the good work!

BEL-ISAAK: This isn't a critisism of the 777 in any way!!! I have over 2500 hours on it as well, I was mentioning it because when I've flown the "defualt" 777 from the FG Hangar I have never experienced this "issue" I was only raising the "issue" just to see if it is a potential bug or not! What I will try and do is a video of both planes (Default & Josh's) and fly them exactly the same and post the links up here to show what I experience
Thanks Clive aka: G-BLS01

@BEL ISAAK
SORRY -- Wrong, you don't to do it perfectly, and the autopilot will correct, if the FD was off, it iwll go to reversion mode HDG and V/S and sync the settings. The fact that it doesn't do this is a LOGIC issue -- NOT MY PROBLEM.

@Clive, were you in TOGA, or FLCH? If you were in TOGA, it will hold V2 + 10 by pitch. If FLCH, it will hold the IAS selected speed by pitch. Please make a video that I can help you better. It is my problem, since the default autopilot did not use TOGA mode correctly, wheras mine models TOGA correctly (speed by pitch)

Kind Regards,
Josh

Hi Josh, I will try and make a video to show this issue soon, FYI I set my LNAV ( Flightplan active) and VNAV (dependant on whether I have levels set at fixes) Never set the F/D once in the air and positive rate of climb (1500 FPM) gear up, and flaps retracted to 0 I click on the A/P button then the issue happens. Hope this helps until I do the video Cheers Clive
