Shame, one of the best aircrafts in FG, hope if we can get rain effect on glass seen on C172p-detailed and some other recent features.

Thanks for this information :)

It's a very good idea ;)

Hyde 's been busy with other commitments lately, but I 've received a message from him just yesterday, so I guess we 'll see some progress in the near future. Due to work appointments I didn't find the time in the last month to continue my own (basic) work on the aircraft systems, but I should be able to continue in July and August. If you have any demands, let me know, but be aware that I 'm still in a very early stage of learning how to code in FlightGear, so don't expect rocket science from my side yet ;)

Are there any upgraded models for the engines (PW4000, RRTrent 800, GE90)? The current engine model resembles the PW4000s but are not exactly accurate...

I've gotten 4 requests to fix the autopilot, so I've done it now. The Pitch Axis was the problematic one, but I redid the Roll Axis also for a better experience.

Changed:
Rewritten most, if not all PID Controllers for autoflight using the Roll rate/Pitch rate technology I developed for my aircraft
Fixed Altitude Capture offset
Much smoother controllers for all operations
IT-AUTOFLIGHT inspired Smooth Flareing for Autoland
Fixed Autopilot demanded autotrim
Added FLCH, VNAV buttons to AP Dialog
Fixed/Improved Rollout Elevator, Aileron
New Flight Director drivers for crosshairs

Available from here. Feel free to merge the commit where you wish.

http://www.github.com/FGMEMBERS/777.git

This took about 3-4 hours, so I hope you will enjoy this!!!

Note: I did not touch the logic, except for the altitude capture fix.
The following logic problems are still present:
A/THR has no TOGA mode
A/THR doesn't notice if the altitude is changed in a way, causing the FLCH mode to switch from climbing, to descending (or vise versa). A second FLCH push is required
TO/GA Doesn't always engage when turning on FD on the ground. Must turn on AP on ground, they maybe it appears
AP Can be turned on while on ground

Josh

Good evening. I was able to test a little the VNAV this evening. I find him more coherent and soft. The set seems still soft and pleasant. Tomorrow I would make out a will more profoundly.

Hi Josh, Had a flight last night with your improved version, It all seems a lot smoother in general, Haven't tried the improved "Flare and Rollout" yet as I always tend to land manually but will give it a go shortly and report back here, Oh have you fixed the issue with the VNAV and descent at waypoints, As before if I set altitudes at waypoints on my descent the VNAV never followed them it only used to accept and carry out the climb altitudes at waypoints, as I thought at one stage the VNAV started following these altitude settings ( I got so used to setting the FPM descent rate manually to reach my waypoint at the altitude required, by using the good old pencil and paper and MATH method!!!) I just wondered? But well done on your tweaking of the settings so far, It seems a lot better! Thanks Clive

Hi Clive
Glad to hear this! I've rewritten the ENTIRE autopilot code (except logic), so that would make sense.

I did not touch the logic, for VNAV, so those issues still exist.

I am working on a custom VNAV system for my Airbus A3XX aircraft, which will have this all fixed, but I guess I could port it back, but this system would interface heavily with the IT-AUTOFLIGHT autopilot, so it would need to be installed on the 777 first. (This would also fix most of the logic issues I mentioned above)

I already do have programmed a formula for descent calculation, it's jut not ready to be public yet.

Kind Regards,
Josh

OK Josh, I'll keep an "eye open" on your posts, As it would be nice to be able to set in altitude for descent at waypoints and VNAV to follow like it does on climb
Thanks Clive aka: G-BLS01

Hi,

i can confirm that elevator manual (nose trim) trim doesn't work on ground before take off.
the aircraft is much softer, the VNAV seems more "correct" but still suffers from some shortcomings such as for example a better consistency on the rate of climb to be applied during take-off phase. I know it's a alots of work but if my comments can help I gladly do it.
The autopilot is stable even on long flights. I have to test one thing, is the altitude capture and chain several flights without stopping the simulator see the stability.
A bit off topic, a complete MCDU on this 777 will be the assured bliss.
