The Boeing 777-X officialy launched.

Postby FGRS » Sun Nov 17, 2013 2:24 pm

On 17 November 2013, at the Dubai Airshow, Boeing officially launched the 777X, gaining many orders from the 3 major Middle-Eastern airlines. Qatar ordered 50 777Xs, Etihad ordered 25, and Emirates ordered a colossal 150 Boeing 777X aircraft for their ever expanding fleet.

Taken from the Wikipedia page about Boeing 777.

So with this amazing aircraft officially launched,I would like to suggest to FG developers,to start working on this aircraft for the FlightGear.

Here are the first images of the 777-X.

Don't forget the Germans :)
Lufthansa is the launch-costumer with 34 777-9X.

Hey guys.

Are there any plans in FGFS to develop the new 777s ,the 777-8 and 777-9? Boeing has announced this program ,under the name 777-x.

Cheers

That should be added to the "how the project works" article :D

The current 777 have been updated to the 777 Seattle Project so I guess ,that plane is a good base to develop the 777-X,which looks fantastic...

We really need that plane here. The current 777,as good as it is,it's becoming old and somehow common. Also,I was kind a hoping to see it developed to add it to my VAs fleet.

There are some questions,

-How will the flightdeck look like? Like the normal 777 or the 787, or something completly new?
-How are the exact dimensions of this aircraft? Lenght, wingspan, not only the current specifications, these are changing during construction.
-How heavy is this aircraft, the weight is the main point of building a fdm.

So it is very early to start now.

Boeing has the same problems. 4 airlines bought this aircraft, every airline has their own demands on the aircraft.
Lufthansa need a longrange-widebody, which can transport over 300 people over 13000-14000km.
Emirates wants more range and more engine power, because of the climate in Dubai.
Etihad and Qatar have their own requests, which are similar to those of Emirates.

One huge problem:
-Qatar hates Lufthansa
-Lufthansa hates all three Middle East Airlines (Not MEA from lebanon)
-Emirates needs Lufthansa for the 777 maintenance, but want to fly to every German Airport with the A380 to take passengers away
-Ethiad supports the competitors of Lufthansa like Air Berlin or Darwin vs Swiss (LH Group)
-Ethiad and Emirates hate Qatar because of politics [I do not want to point it out]

They can not talk to each other.

heheheh completely hilarious... :D

But I'm pretty much sure it is like that between them..

Agree with you regarding aircraft data. To be honest, there is something out but how accurate it is...that's the question. Wingspan could be the hardest part to find out, simply cause on most CG made photos, the 777-X is equipped with wings which have a retractable wingtips, which are quite big ones.

So that changes a lot of things regarding making of the aircraft here.

I was not saying that we should start working on it now,but I think it's good to start talking about that aircraft and to slowly gather all available data about it.

I hope FGFS will still be here, when the first 777-X is out of the factory. :)

Boeing will chop off its left foot to make sure that they get as many orders as possible. If the carriers from the Middle East need "hot and high" capability, Boeing will deliver. If LH needs 14000 Km range, Boeing will deliver.

I'm still wondering what Lufthansa wants to do with yet another new type. Replace its 744s?

I would say ,to replace the A330s...or to replace the 747-400s.

Considering that the original A330s were introduced in 1994, then yeah, they are. Thats 20 years already plus however long it takes them to introduce the 777X into service. Scary, isn't it

Lufthansa Longrange Fleet developement

Postby EDDM08R » Tue Nov 25, 2014 10:37 pm

  • Lufthansa wants to replace their B747-400 with the A380-800, B747-8i and later with B777-9X
  • the A330-300 are not so long in the fleet, they can stay for the next 20 years,
  • 14 A340-300 are going to fly to touristic destinations, like the Caribbean or Las Vegas or Tampa in FL,
the former routes of these A340-300 are going to be operated by the A350-900, Lufthansa get their first in 2016.
  • Three A340-300 are flying for the German State, two as VIP-Jets, which are Operated by the German Air Force and one A343 (D-AIGZ) is a flying hospital, it can carry sick passengers, they have their own quarantine facility on board which is seperated from other areas, even the climate system on board. This special "EBOLA"-Jet is the largest aircraft in the world with this special equipment, there are only a few little Gulfstreams with similar systems on board. This Aircraft was retrofitted by Lufthansa Technik and is going to be operated with Lufthansa flightcrews.
  • The A340-600 can stay some time in the fleet, replacing by B777-9X
  • The A380-800 fleet is growing in the next year from 12 to 14 aircraft, the aircraft are going to carry less passengers, from 526 down to 488 due to the new class, the premium economy.

Lufthansa is known to let their aircraft fly to the maximum economic life-span, around 25 years.

Any news about the 777X on flightgear? , I have a 777X here, but it is very incomplete. On Github there's this: https://github.com/FGMEMBERS-HQ/777, like, the cockpit is the same as the 777 Normal, there's no way to change paint, just the sound that changes, and I don't know if the wing has changed too .
