Much of the development was done very recently :)

The cockpit and general body (the model?) are good, not perfection like on the A330 but still very good and most importantly, functional. And in my opinion, for ultra long distance flights this aircraft is better than the A330 because you can fast forward by 16-32x very easily, whereas on the A330 if you fast forward by 8x or more the aircraft will go crazy.

There is a new version of the A340-600HGW in the downloads section of the hangar: http://andinogonthaeler.wordpress.com/downloads-2/

The new version has a better FDM, a better autopilot, and a more realistic fuel consumption. Now you can use this web page to calculate the fuel you need:

http://fuelplanner.com/index.php

The new version has also updated the BRT livery and now includes a new Philippine Airlines LIvery.

Mate, the A330 is still far better. No one hardly uses that fast forward feature anyway.

HI,

I noticed the plane not to sit on the ground, so I´d like to offer some corrections to the ground reactions in Models/A340-600HGW.xml :

Code: Select all
<model>
  <path>Aircraft/A340-600HGW/Models/A340-600HGW-avion.xml</path>
   <offsets>
            <x-m>0</x-m>
            <y-m>0</y-m>
            <z-m>-0.35</z-m>
      <pitch-deg>-0.8</pitch-deg>
   </offsets>
            <livery>
                <file type="string">Iberia</file>
            </livery>
</model>

I found this nice picture, that shows the Landing-gear positions during approach and after take off.

Does anybody know how to fix this ?

Thank you very much!

Well the movement of the gear is one thing that still needs to be developed...

I've been working on a new gear tilt and compression class for my new a380 project - I'll share my code when I get to the US. (My flight departs in an hour and a half - AA51)

I have done a Malaysia Airlines Livery for the A340-600HGW (also for the old model). It is a humble homage to the victims of flight MH 17 (Schiphol-Kuala Lumpur), who perished in Ukraine. I also think of flight MH 370 when I do this homage.

The livery is fictional. Malaysia Airlines did not fly A340s. The fated planes where Boeing 777, as is known. The livery is not perfect, But this is my way of doing memory of the victims, nevertheless.

Here is the actual picture of the destroyed plane:

9M-MRD had the Freedom of Space livery and it is in Flightgear. I think that livery was one of the best ever.

Thank you for the comment.

I think 9M-MRD had the "regular" livery, at least in the picture I shared. You can see the registration number in the picture if you amplify it. It seems that the 9M-MRD still had this livery when it was shot down. You can see here a picture posted by one of the passengers before flying:

http://www.straitstimes.com/news/asia/south-east-asia/story/malaysia-airlines-mh17-crash-passenger-posted-joke-about-plane-disap

May be that the 9M-MRD had the Freedom of Space livery in the past at some moment. No doubt the Freedom of Space livery is very good.

In any case, the flightgear Freedom of Space livery is done for the 777, not for the A340. It would be great if somebody makes a Freedom of Space livery for the the A340!!!!

Yep, they changed the livery back to the normal one because the Freedom of Space livery was too expensive to maintain. It was actually changed quite a long time ago.

There is a new version to download. It has some improvements:

- EFIS controls for the MFD.

- Co-pilot view.

- More cabin lights (for night flights).

- New Instruments added to the flight deck (AI and Vor-Dme).

- Fuel consumption more realistic (you can use the fuelplanner.com program) to plan your flights!

- Malaysia Airlines livery added to the default liveries.

There is still that problem with the autopilot where if you add a new waypoint during the flight, the plane will stay on the heading that you were on when you added the waypoint.

There is a new version of the A340-600HGW. It has:

- Better looking auto-pilot.

- Warning / Caution lights.

- It is possible to arm the auto-spoilers before landing. Can be done manually at the cockpit handle or using the keyboard (=).

As always, it is here to download: http://andinogonthaeler.wordpress.com/
