A340-600HGW (download at the first post)

I have begun to work in a new version of the A340-600. What I would like to do is:

- To develop a model based on Liam's great A340-600, which will be able to use the existing liveries.
- To introduce some of the missing things: flaps, airbrake, reversers, trim and other moving surfaces. And, of course, to introduce a more developed cockpit.

I have chosen the name A340-600HGW, because it is an actual version of the 340, which was developed by Airbus, although not many units where done. It had new engines, more efficient, and that will haver this FG model too. I hope not to collide with other efforts, and to have a download soon.

Postscript: how to use the autopilot

It might seem difficult, but it is not. It works so:

- Mouse wheel: change the value (Hdg, VS, Alt, Hold, Speed, etc.)
- Mouse left click: select the function to activate it: (Alt, Hold Alt, Hdg, Loc, App, VS, Throttle, etc.)

That is all !!!

Last communication (Nov, the 11th 2015:

By this communication I would like to let you know, that I am no longer able to continue developing the Airbus A340-600HGW, the A340-313X, the Boeing 707-320 and the MD-81, MD-82, and MD-83.

These models can still be downloaded from the website (https://andinogonthaeler.wordpress.com/), but they will not be developed further by me in a systematic way. If I occasionally do something new, I will let you know in the forum and in the blog, but not much work should be expected.

Due to personal reasons, I have not the time needed to work any more on these planes. And the pace of new FG versions is too quick for me to be able to do the necessary adjustments to each version.

As far as I know, models A340-600HGW, A340-313X and B-707-320 are completely under the GPL license. The MD's are under the Creative Commons license, as they are derived from the original MD-81, which was under the Creative Commons license. More is explained under each plane. Feel free to continue the work on these models.

Thank you for your support and interest so far.

Thank you, I have contacted him. He was interested for a while in other A340, the A340-500.

So, I think there is space for an attempt to create an A340-600HGW.

Thank you for the information!!!

Please make sure the FDM is one of the things you update/make a new one of. Liam's old version only defined two engines in the FDM of a supposed four engined aircraft. That throws off the fuel burn rate which makes it inefficient to use in virtual airlines and pilots in general.

Hello Andino..
This morning I was watching the pilot list of the flightgear server online map and I saw that You was using the A340HGW.
How is it? What things do You develop now to complete it?
If you can answer:)
Thanks

Today I have worked a bit on the lights. Landing lights, strobe, beacon, with interruptors on the overhead panel. Now they work, but there is still a lot to do with other lights.

The basic surfaces are done: ailerons, elevators, flaps, airbrakes, trim.

I have been using the 777 MFDs for the plane. In the future, they have to look more like Airbus. I also need one more MFD.

The autopilot is working quite good, but it would be necesary to do some little details.

Landing gear handle, flaps handle, air brake handle are missing.

There is no manual start yet.

These are the most important things to do in the near future. But the plane is nice, I like it.

For the levers, knob, etc...
They are the same (or very similar) for each Airbus A/C, maybe you could ask to the people who are working on the A350. They perform a very good work on the A350 cockpit and I think, that may be you could use some parts for the A330/340.

Really good. I hope the new A340 will be as incredible as it deserves. But i'm sure that you will do a great job! Good Luck!

I was just going to tell him the same thing. The cockpits on the A330 and A340 are pretty similar, so you might want to go talk to omega95 again about using some of his stuff.

Here are a couple pictures to illustrate what I mean:

Thank you for the feed back.

As a matter of fact, it would be very easy to take the 330 and "convert" it to a 340. Actually, I have done it, and it works. And of course, that is a way of solving many things. The cockpit of the 330 is wonderful, and I am not able to do something similar.

On the other hand, I do not like jsbm. I prefer yasim. Then the other way is to start with the 340, as it is, and slowly develop it. The cabin will never look so wonderful, but it will be so to say the development of the original 340, and not a refurbished 330.

Well, I could continue doing both things, and see wich one results to be better.

In the real life A330 and A340 have exactly the same airframe, same cockpit (except two thrust levers, two more engine fuel command, two bleed,... and a FMES reconfiguration and that's all).
So starting from A330 to build a 340, is the normal way :)

On my side, I think that it will be good to have an Airbus components Library. From A318 to A350 several components are the same (just look the overheads), so making a components library will help several people.
In the real life, Airbus do that in order to save money and training.
But I understand you wish to build a full aircraft ;)
