Textures will be the last thing to do on it gijs, I'm just looking at animating the gears now trying to figure out all the bits that need to animate and which dont. and of course make sense of which bit does what.

heres a development snapshot, with some clothes on.

The girl is fighting me all the way :D

But im chipping away.

A mix up with the fuselage has set me back a little and some problems with the FDM are causing a delay but, progress is being made slowly but surely.

Looking good, we'll soon have another aircraft for the Islands.
Currently running 2018.1 but if it doesn't stop crashing I'm taking up tiddlywinks!

Great! I see a lot of comparisons with the Foker 50!
The texture look fantastic! Only the model needs some more smoothing on some parts...

Ok things are going ok with Dash8.

i seem to have three problems at the moment.

i'm using a modified dhc6 FDM

1. Landing gear is animated, but always starts in the retracted state and i can't seem to change it1 despite looking at the properties and finding which is the norm. settings

2.The dch6 requires a start up procedure or you use the autostart from the menu. My Dash8 is started already as soon as the sim loads, i believe this is causing a sound problem, i have managed now to get the "wind" sound and the Gear sound, and can only get the engine sounds by enabling the sounds in the properties from 0 to 1.

3. i think that the "float" properties of the dhc6F have become mixed with the dash8 as it behaves like it is on water when on solid ground. ie rocks and rolls with the landing gear getting "submerged" in the ground eventually rocking itself into "crashed" mode. These are all things i am trying to sort out bit by bit.

I forgot how frustrating hacking FDM's is :D

ok i have fixed problem one which was the landing gear in the retracted position at startup after many infuriating hours of search.
So landing gear works fine now.

I have still a few things to work out such as why does the airplane bounce around with the LG going above and below the surface of the ground like its a cat on a hot tin roof.

Work out a view problem which just shows a narrow strip of blue with white background from the Pilots view position.

and how to sort out the starting problem.

These will take some time to do.

I suppose it is the draw back of using another models FDM and trying to adapt it to suit.

Check out the Fokker 50 FDM in CVS. They will be starting some heavy work on it soon as you can see in the other thread.

Thanks to Anders and Glazmax, i have two of the three problems sorted, the third relating to sound can be worked around for the minute so it's not to urgent.

i have a great smile on my face now flying the Dash8. She flies true and straight lands well and is easy to fly.

Got the interior of the Cabin done today, so we have a cabin view allowing you to look out of the windows as a passenger would.

She aint fighting me as much now. just like a woman get her some pretty shoes and your set..

still more to do. I have the cockpit shaped now and so can work on that now.

ok, i could do with a little help with this sound problem i have.
I know what the problem is and know what needs doing, but its what parts to do it to, that i have become stuck on.

This is the problem i have.

Because i havent yet created the autostart procedure for the Dash8 i needed to set the <engine><condition> to 1 in the dch8-base.xml so that the engines are started as soon as the model is loaded.

Because of this i think i am bypassing something which gives a <property> a value so the engine sounds begin.

The sounds work as i can enter properties/sim/sounds and change E-volume and cabin from 0 to 1 and the sounds work fine.

Similarly i can select from properties/controls/lighting things such as Nav lights,landing lights and instrument lights changing the values from either false to true or 0 - 1.

Now i know these properties need to be changed in the dch8-base.xml, but i am trying by trial and error and not having much luck.

If someone could cast a professional (FDM-XML) eye over these files i would be appreciative.

As soon as these niggles are fixed i can release the model.
