At MD-Terp's suggestion, here is the issue I am currently having with this aircraft:

MD-Terp wrote:
SkyWlf77 wrote:One, when I select it, results in a message in the console regarding trying to "scale" from one resolution to another, but never actually loads the plane in the launcher window.

Two different problems. The "scale" message is just a "warning" -- the plane's author created a texture that was not sized in powers of 2, and the program automatically adjusts it. If it never loads the plane into the launcher, something else is amiss. Which plane is this?

This would be the DHC8-300Q model. Here is exactly what happens:

Click on the model and get these messages (in this order):

osgdb ac3d reader: could not find texture "mainpanel.rgb"
osgdb ac3d reader: could not find texture "panel.rgb"
Scaling image 'C:\Program Files\FlightGear\data\Aircraft\dhc8\models\Instruments\dashpanel.rgb' from <1024,768> to <1024,1024> (this repeats 10 times)
***It did finally manage to load the picture in the launcher window after quite some delay and freezing my system during the delay time period

Not sure what's going on, but I haven't tried to fly this plane because of the message I'm getting in the console window. Any advice?

Thanks!
Jason

Ok, I did that, but I am still getting the same errors. Also, when I copied them into that folder, it overwrote two files of the same name and size (just with an earlier date). I am thinking this might be a computer issue on my end because I compared your panel.rgb with panel.rgb files for other planes that I know work and there is a discrepancy. Your panel files are shown to me as "SGI Images" whereas the panel files from working aircraft are shown to me as "PNG Images". I'm not sure why this is the case since they are all actually .rgb files, but my computer is picking them up as two different file types :?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

.rgb is a file extension name of the Silicon Graphics Image.(SGI) i have checked on my system which is also windoze and it appears fine.
i found the missing texture (borrowed from the Focker 50)

i have uploaded all three here they are scaled correctly.

Thex xml file should be fine and needs no adjustment.

Thanks for the files and assistance, MaverickAlex. It still won't work for me, but I'll assume at this point that it's a problem with my computer somewhere and let it go at that :)

Thanks again,
Jason

I am using this version at the moment, as listed on Flight Gear 2.6 aircraft. Is there a newer version (esp instruments)

Tried this link but no folder found:

"Last edited by MaverickAlex on 17 Feb 2009" so no, that link won't give you a newer version :-)
Alex left FlightGear, so anyone willing to give it an update is welcome!

What would be nice is a new Q400 version.

I have the Q-400 for FlightGear.

A while ago it cause a huge flame-war here because it was exclusive to a virtual airline, AVA I think and someone did not agree. Since then Maverick Alex and the other party have both left the FlightGear forum.

If it is no longer considered an exclusive, someone let me know. I have absolutely no interest in anything to do with the VAs, I just don't have the time, so I don't follow any of those threads, sorry.

I can make a paint kit and an Air Canada livery for it and host it on FlightGear Canada for those interested.

Can anyone load this in Blender, I had a look at it a little while ago with the intention of remapping it but could not load it into any version of Blender I have, 2.49, 2.58 or 2.6*, so I gave up on the Idea.

To be honest It would better starting a completely new model as this one does not seem that accurate (I think Alex would even agree with that as It was one of his early models) I think the AI version looks better but that is low poly.

Yes, it looks horrible. Can someone lead me to that Blender tutorial that helijah did? It's the one about a plane that begins with a B, is French and has 4 props?

Because I'm interested, but this is my first 3D model.
