Berkut, you could be a little more polite. It won't hurt you

Personally, the sounds could be louder. But the autopilot works perfectly fine, including working VNAV and a functional CDU.
It is nearly equal to the A330's CDU.

Berkut, I don't know about the other issues because I'm only using the outside model and the fdm as the basis for a university project. And from that perspective, the flapping wings issue clearly has the highest priority.

radi: Cool! I'm glad you can use the patch, but be aware that I'm not very experienced in Nasal scripting.

@Berkut do you have the 787-8 from Omega or the 787 off the Official flightgear page? if from the official flightgear page then their is your problem.

The 787-8 works great for me, set the CDU up for a 12 hour flight and it follows and does everything right, A/P is excellent.
I would say it may need a "touch up" on the wing flex but not a "Overhaul"

Hi, I am not a programmer and dont know the first thing about writing .xml files and commands, I just want to enjoy Flightgear...Legoboy and Kiwi, how can I get the version you guys have? The 787-8 that I downloaded is from the Merlion site because I figured that was the most up to date version. Since thyre using it for flights...However the wings don't flex for me, (they don't flex on the 747-400 or -8 and 777s, nor A380 either for me).The auto pilot doesn't work at all, there is no Flight director showing; fms, cdu, dont really work to properly input all info... Lnav, vnav, loc, app, don't activate, sure the lights come on in the buttons but they dont do anything to the plane, I still have to handfly...none of it works. If someone could point me in the right direction to get the proper download it would be greatly appreciated. I see online many people saujng how great the 78 flies and the A/P being excellent along with thw wingflex visuals, but Im gwtting non of that...Again, I downloaded this week the Merlion 787-8i from their website.
Wingflex important to me but not crucial, but A/P working from ascent to land is imperative to get the proper flight experience on long hauls.. I know how these things are supposed to act for each button input and the 78 that I have is far from accurate. A download link for the real deal posted here would be awesome...Thanks for your help.
I have FG version 3.4.0

Same problems with the Omega 787 that I have and no one believes me. That thing doesn't work, clear and simple. Also ,FG 3.4

I have it downloaded from FGMEMBERS (GitHub repo)

Does the wingflex effect the fdm, if not its just ascetic.

Actually wingflex is not much of a problem. I didn't want to give that impression. You will only notice it if you switch to an outside view immediately after startup, which no-one does, except for me because I need this for my project.

@Berkut: Isn't it obvious that the problem is caused by you not knowing how to use it right? There are people happily flying around with it, so how can it be the aircraft's fault? Better try to find out what you're missing by asking polite questions, like swwon does.

Swonn and Berkut.
I have absolutely nomproblems with the Boeing 787-8 from FGMEMBERS.

Swonn, try www.github.com/FGMEMBERS/787-8

Thisnplane works perfectly well, so it is an issue on your side. Either you don't know how to use it properly, or else it is to do wih you having 3.4 and me having 3.7
Over and out.

AFAIK the actual development takes place here: https://github.com/omega95-aircraft/fg-boeing-787-8 so if you want to be part of this, and respect the work of others instead of exploiting it, go there, try to figure your problems out, and share what you've learned.

Yeah I downloaded that link, thank you very much for your responses, guys. Unfortunately, there is no change. The FMC, FMS, and total A/P don't work. Nothing shows up on the screen, not the flightpath nor the modes of the A/P either (lnav, vnav/alt/spd/pth; etc.). If you want to see how an A/P is supposed to work, fly the 777-300ER. Trust me Legoboy; without going into details, I know what I'm supposed to do and I know what the plane is supposed to do and it does none of that.
Perhaps I should download version 3.7 as mentioned by Legoboy? Because honestly this plane doesn't work and I was looking forward to the upgraded visuals as well as the flying experience. It flies very well from a "Hand-Flying" point of view but that's only 50% of it. I don't see a FG version 3.7 anywhere, any possibility of THAT link as well? Again thank you very much for your input.

Favorites So far: 777-300ER (almost as close to the real thing with a few rough edges)
747-8 (flies pretty well once you realize there are certain things to do apart from how the real one flies to get it operating in flight correctly). Haven't tried the Airbuses yet.
Basically pretty much ALL Boeings perform or operate the same, the language is the same and the buttons are the same to do the same things, (with of course some upgrades with each new plane). And each plane should behave the same way, (LNAV is LNAV and VNAV is VNAV and the process of take off and approach LOC/APP should be exactly the same and you shouldn't have to hit FLCH to make it climb or decent in real life, unless you need an immediate move or VNAV isn't working); I don't understand why there hasn't been some sort of common programming put in each of those planes accordingly. Basically take the 777-300ER programming on FG and slam it into the 787 and everything should be fine. there shouldn't be a different type of "WAY To DO IT" just because its a 787. I understand all this is a work in progress and any input I could give I'll do my best...But again, I know NOTHING about programming and I'm not about to start. Thanks guys!

Ah but then is it really a 787? more like a 77.87

Read the forums and wiki page about how to control it, it took me an hour or so to finally get it running, it is more realistic than the 777 and more complex hence why the 777 is still popular and overly used by nearly every person online ( i myself have 200 odd hours in her )

Find out how to use the 787, and you will have the most fun you could every imagine with that 787-8, its great for VFR and more commonly IFR
Very reliable, just put the effort in to learn its ways, and you will be away :)

Best of luck

Cheers

Note that the most recent version of the Omega Hangar 787-8 was merged into the official FlightGear aircraft collection. The aircraft is located at Aircraft/787-8/. To download the official version - with instructions on what is needed on the FlightGear software side - see the FlightGear wiki article:

Regards,
Edward

Edit: The FGMEMBERS version is a fork of the Omega Hangar 787-8.
