[DOWNLOAD] Catering vehicle

[Just to let you know I'm working on the next vehicle on our vehicle-list: a catering vehicle/sciccor truck. The cargo-container goes up and down if you want. You could poisition it so it will fit any height/any plane.

The sciccors aren't modeled yet, the scale is not completely right and some other modeling stuff need to be done (interior, bridge between container and aircraft etc.). But here's a first stadium picture, serving an AI-747:

.. and I would say thanks to the people that made (and still make) it possible for guys like me to make things like this. We sometimes forget all the people that make the "inner part" of FlightGear. But the inside is maybey even more important than the outside.

Here's a tiny little update. With scissors now (need some more detail):

I just couldn't wait any longer before you may test it. So here it is: the first and only catering truck in FlightGear! ;)
For now the container is linked to the elevator-trim, but this might change in the future. I don't know what's best to control it...

Enjoy driving and serving the hungry passengers!!

Controls:
Code: Select all
,           brake
.           accelerate
M           reverse
m           forward
7/Home      up
1/End       down

Download:
Download from this link and unzip it to FlightGear/data/aircraft/.

Click the link (http://www.maxishare.net/en/file/6350/catering-zip.html) and scroll down. There you will see "Please enter the three characters and click submit to download". Enter the characters and click submit to download. Then unpack it to flightgear/data/aircraft/.

Animation is totally broken here with OSG version, did you develop for PLIB?

Well, it works somewhat better with a PLIB build, but still some issues. I guess mostly double-side and/or normals, plus the scissor doesn't seem to be in contact with the bottom of the container.
Am I the only one who sees it?

Atleast that's working :)

No you are not. I now some faces arent two-sided. And the sciccors are connected to the bottom, until a certain height. That's because the sciccors should move (at the bottom, connected to the truck) to the middel. So what you see is what you should see at the moment. But as I said it's work in progress..

Please provide a little more information. With only your sentence I can't help you. I need to know some stuff:

- Do you have texture files in the data/aircraft/catering/Models folder?
- Is there any error message shown?
- Do you see textures if the car is in the aircraft-selection dialog, or are they missing both in-game as in the selection dialog?

I fixxed the catering truck!!!

Postby Yakko » Wed May 21, 2008 2:46 am

At least in terms of getting the textures to work right.

When I loaded up fgfs with this model, I got lots of console errors about textures not being a power of two.

That was the problem - all the textures need to be sized in powers of 2 (2 4 8 16 32 64 128 256) in both the X and Y
direction ( for example, 128 x 1024 is acceptable, 192 x 1056 is not) otherwise it doesn't load the textures because it
can't scale arbitrary sizes.

I went thru each texture and changed the sizes X and Y to powers of 2, keeping the aspect ratio as close as possible.
Now the truck loads and looks correct in FGFS - if the author wants I will gladly send a tar.gz file of the corrected
textures back to him or her for inclusion.
Flying (mostly) the Lockheed Constellation as YAKKO on MPServers :)
