Out of interest, I gave it a try. Just a quick test and some ILS approaches. It flies nicely (nose wheel is a bit touchy on the ground), but a fun little jet. I'll be watching with interest. Thanks

I agree that the nose-wheel steering is too sensitive. I have not looked at all at the flight model of this FlightGear version ( it is still the one from 21 May 2013 ). I have only concentrated on a cockpit upgrade and some minor changes to the model/texturing.

File C-101EB-JSBSim.xml in the base C-101 aircraft folder, has the following on line 198

Code: Select all
      <max_steer unit="DEG"> 40.00 </max_steer>

I have tried changing this to 20.00 which seems to improve things. There is maybe room to reduce this even further for take-off / landing purposes. And then, for taxiing, possibly look at differential braking when the end-stops are reached??

I'm not a modeler, so not sure about values and whatnot. But, the cockpit looks great for sure... nicely done. The exterior is nice too.

that max_steer property appears to be the maximum angle the nose wheel of the craft can turn... reducing it may help with takeoff/landing but it also means the craft cannot turn as sharply as it should on the ground...
"You get more air close to the ground," said Angalo. "I read that in a book. You get lots of air low down, and not much when you go up."
"Why not?" said Gurder.
"Dunno. It's frightened of heights, I guess."

I agree with the nose wheel steering problem. It's a bit touchy.

I would like to know if it's possible to "import" the particles that appear in the F-16 when pulling G's? That would be awesome. Some clickable switches would be super great as well :P

Do you need photos of the real cockpit? Maybe I can try to talk with someone in the spanish army to try and get some photos? (I don't promise anything tho  )

Any particular data about the aircraft is needed to progress? I can try to find it as well. I have looked (not played) at the C-101 in DCS and do you think it could be a good "source" to compare this one to? People say that one is great.

The nose wheel steering has been adjusted and, to me, is an improvement. I'm pretty bad at taxiing anyway and I would rather that it can take off and land well.

Tip-trails, g-force/condensation etc are just eye-candy things that are not that difficult to 'import'. But bear in mind that this is not anywhere near as manoeuvrable as an F-16 :)

I have masses of stuff that has not been incorporated into this (yet). Whether or not that gets used depends on the interest in it. The DCS version of this is indeed a very good reference - I have studied it extensively 8)
