And that's the panel in the frame...

Hmm, I'm starting to like blender but ofcourse I still prefer ac3d for modeling.... :D

So you did the modeling in ac3d and the texturing in blender? as there any chance you could upload the blend file? I just want to get a sense of scale and size if that's okay?

Just practice more modelling with Blender and you will love it :)

Actually I modeled in ac3d and textured in ac3d too... I Baked the maps (Ambient Occlusion and Lightmap) on blender... You know you could just import ac3d files into blender.
And I've explored ac3d too much to let it go now... And Blender sometimes annoys me..

Some more work...

I'll probably make the texture better, and do the lit up text next...

I'm thinking of using the flightgear's generic systems this time but if anyone can modify Syd's electrical to work with 4 engine aircraft, it'd be great! :D

Hi omega95,

Have you the electric system documentation for your aircraft ? Can you give it me ?

Cheers,

Firstly let me say great work, your model is looking really good. I'm looking forward to B.Ae.146/Avro RJ being available in FlightGear. However it appears from the earlier images you posted that you haven't got the elevators and ailerons right. The hinge extends all the way to the wing/tailplane tip with a small section of the elevator or aileron in front of the hinge line i.e. a horn balance. If you want to add more realism you should include the tabs on the trailing edges of the control surfaces. There are two tab on each surface, one trim tab and one servo tab. The Pilot's controls actually drive the servo tabs not the main surface, when in flight the aerodynamic moments generated by the tab movement drives the main surface to the desired position. When on ground the main surface won't move much. Some of the photos and drawings in this brochure illustrate what I'm talking about:

http://www.regional-services.com/Files/pdf/Avro_RJ_General_data_brochure.pdf

It might also be worth looking at the details of Buckaroo's MD-81 model as that aircraft also features tabbed controls and animates the effects described above. Another reason for taking a look at the MD-81 is the Electronic Flight Instruments as the RJs are similar to those on the MD-81 but note that PFD formats are different, the RJ has a vertical speed tape on the right hand of side not altitude.

When you come to animate the flaps the following NASA report has a cross sectional view which shows the motion of the flap and flap-tab, see page 76. Note the published flap detents i.e 18, 24, 30 and 33 relate to the angle of the flap, flap tab angles are greater.

http://ntrs.nasa.gov/search.jsp?R=19960052267&hterms=contractor+report+4746&qs=Ntx%3Dmode%2520matchallany%26Ntk%3DAll%26Ns%3DPublication-Date%7C1%26N%3D0%26No%3D40%26Ntt%3Dcontractor%2520report%25204746#.Tnc5XXmpHiM.email

Note that this report would be useful to anyone modelling airliners as it discusses the flap mechanisms of most of the current aircraft types.

Finally, whilst googling for RJ related material I can across the following CAA check flight test schedule. It contains some useful numbers for the FDM, such as flap and undercarriage extension times and stall speeds.

http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/1455/SRG_FLT_CFS_283_Issue1_27072006.pdf

I hope you find the above useful, I'm looking forward to the first release!

Not really. Omega has hit a road block with his four engined planes, and can not release them. The reason being that he likes a detailed electrical system for planes, and there is not one already created for JSBsim (except the generic, which he doesn't want to use). So he must create one himself, which will probably take a while, then he will release it. (Hopefully)
