There were many youtube videos and some articles I read on simulation and it's claimed that in most sims, airplanes slow down to quick after landing. Usually, say if you land an A320 at about 130 knots, (actual landing speed) it should take quite a while to 70 knots with full speed brakes and reversers where teh autobrakes go down and you can use manual brakes. So in fact, that is NOT A drawback for the 787. It's a drawback for the 737-800 and many other planes. Look, planes should not be able to move in reverse with reverse thrust. In FG, they can and that easily shows that the reversers are too strong.

So, if you want to make it realistic, let it be and don't let it slow down too quick...

Ok, I can see where you are coming from. I shall approach this from a different angle then. To reduce speed to 70 knts quickly you need a low landing speed. I struggle to land at anything below 150 in the 787 let alone 140 which could be why it does take seemingly to long to stop. Also, to put this into context, I usually have to take around 6/8 of a runway at EDDF. Having spent 2 weeks at London Heathrow recently and the smaller 737's could stop well under half way and even an A340-600 would stop well under 3/4 of the runway. I couldn't confirm wether they use much reverse thrust but most of the aircraft did blast reverse thrust on landing.

I was unaware planes could not move in reverse thrust (?)
Anyway I stand by the speed brakes being effective on ground but i will land a few planes again and see how long it does take to reduce speed to 70knts.

Look forward to the finished product :)

That itself if the problem. Those planes should be able to land at 135 knots. Have you tried the A320-family? It needs atleast 150 knots to land but in RL, the plane can land at 125 knots.

Ahem... 6/8 and 3/4 is the same thing...

Considering the landing speed, let's say you land at 150 knots, then till you can apply the brakes, you need to slow down about 80 knots but if you touch down at 130 knots, you just need to slow down by 60 knots. Considering the tyre friction, the static friction is much more than kinetic, therefore it's even harder to decelerate at a high speed comparatively. So probably if people fix the lift co-efficients of the wing that let the plane land at normal landing speeds, slowing down won't be much of a problem.
I stand with you on this. :D

Good progress in the model. It features 3D fan (it was plain before), nice detail nose gear, doors are cut in the fuselage and an aprox to the real A310 windshield. The fuselage and the engines are in agreement with the blueprints, much better than before.

Some previews:

EDIT: More work on the main landing gear:

Very nice, fellas! I was extremely ill, so I did not work on those liveries for you—but I think I'll put 'em off until this new model comes out :D Fantastic!!

Thanks both! Get well soon truthsolo. The model will be ready (modelled and mapped) at the end of the week. I am hopping to get photorealistic textures, some dirtying and screws makes a lot of to an aircraft :)

EDIT: Primitive wing + engine pylon:

EDIT 2: Tail + rudder and elevators:

Divided wing in 3 parts for wingflex support too.

Thanks, feeling better already.. Dirt details and wing flex will be a very nice touch :) That's the P&W engine, aye?

Yep, it is. Does it have good shape? Some blueprints were saying a thing, others were saying another, so I finally done it from blueprints + photos.

It looks very good so far; I would adjust the piece holding the nacelle though. In my reference photos, it comes straight off the bottom of the leading edge, and the exhaust has two "pieces".. take a look at this one: http://images3.jetphotos.net/img/1/3/0/7/63646_1277049703.jpg :D Looking forward to it (and I hope you can sort out the nasty yaw while you're at it) Sticking with YASim or do you think you'll switch to JSB if you can get good data?

Ok, I will adjust the engine pylon and the pieces (I was thinking on adding textures so I don't have to separate anything :P ) I have just seen that one of our community members, D-SKY1, offers his help on giving special data of Airbus aircrafts, not available to the public. We will maybe keep YAsim, since all the systems, etc. have been done specially for it.

Anyway, we will try to make a good YAsim FDM. It is not maybe very powerful, but it is still a good FDM to work with.

Ok, so I think the model is finished:

Any more suggestions? If not, I will go on with the UVmapping.

Hehe, I must spend summer time in something

So this afternoon I will map this bird and try to make some nice photorealistic textures. The rest is to modify the FDM geometry and animations.

Model is mapped. Next job is to texture it properly. For the moment it is grey with the engine, fan and gears textures.
