Airbus A310-300 (download link in first post)

Postby Omega » Tue Jul 19, 2011 8:17 pm

Me and icecode started the development of the A310-300 a few months ago till now users of Flightgear were able to view the development progress in our hangar.
But now all the forum members and non will be able to see the development progress of this bird from the Development section of this forum :D .

Here are all the latest features of this aircraft:
- 3D model available
- Yasim FDM available (will need a few adjustments and we may change it to JSB)
- Animations are Completed (a few of them don't work over mp)
- Cockpit was completed but since it wasn't good we removed it - a new detailed cockpit will be available in the next snapshot
- Textures completed but right now there's only 1 livery available - PIA, Mahan Air and Air transat will be included in the next snapshot.

Sceenshots:

Please note that when you take off the rudder goes to the left like taildragger which is a known bug (if anyone knows how to fix this please say). so you'll have to pull the stick down a bit and move the rudder to the right. Also when landing apply full flaps and land at 120 kt (not faster!!) and don't pull the stick back too much so after the rear wheels touch the ground pull the stick down, if you can't stay in the centerline of the runway you can use brakes "b".
^^^This bug will be fixed in the next snapshot

DOWNLOAD
After download rename to A310-300
 Please note that a few of the features may only work with git or a developer's snapshot!

Cheers,
Omega.

This is looking great, very promising. It's great that you have made use of such a smooth model and nice texture detail, as well as a reflective shader. I will test it out when I have the chance and give more detailed feedback. Until then, keep up the great work.

By the way, It looks like the shape of the nosecone base needs to be a little bit fatter, compared with true-to-life images it may need a tiny bit of rectifying, but nothing that matters greatly ;)

Very nice, just one tip(and I have seen this in many models) that the nosetip is a bit too long/pointy

The cockpit windows don`t look realistic. And I`ve got this weird bug that when I start to move, the fan textures dissapear. But overall it`s very nice.

I should update (redo 70% of my work) the A300 sometime...

Armchair Ace got permission for us to use a high-quality X-plane cockpit model, however, we have to release it under CC. :(

The FDM is one of those things that the A300 should get changed. The landing speed is very low(around 110 knots, any higher and the wings will make too much lift)

Looking good guys! I found the paintkit, but will hold off until you map the rest of the exterior (wing leading edge, front of engine nacelle, etc).. I've been looking forward to this plane; the CF uses them for transport and refueling. Speaking of which, it would be very cool to have a submodel for a drogue system like that found on "Husky 4" at some point:

cheers, keep it up! :D

It's JSBSim, nothing I can do (except replace it with YASim, which I won't do, because YASim is inferior). I'll run a few test flights, however.

FG's A300 does not have an autopilot.

Back to the A310...

There's already a paitkit, but I'm working on a new one with more layers.

Truthsolo, we're working on A310-300 which is the passenger version of A310, The one with refuelling capability is A310 MRTT.

Thanks for the feedback,
Omega.

Hello all,

Thanks to everyone for the feedback.

Bravo123, agree with you, nose needs some refinements. Will fix that.

Wingtipped, once I start with the cockpit shell, I will make them realistic, and about the fan texture, it is a known bug. But I couldn't find any solution to it... is it maybe a feature instead of a bug? :P

Connect, paintkit is made, and as Omega said, he is working on a new one with more details and more easy to work with. More liveries are welcome! :)

Skyop, good luck on your A300

Icecode.
