3d Models

Postby julianjackson1 » Fri Mar 28, 2008 1:26 am

Hello All,

I was wondering, how do I make 3d aircraft or ground vehicles models for FG. I have been working on the 737-800 first livery and improving the textures, but I want to know how to make an aircraft/vehicle model??
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Then find a way to export your model to AC3D format ( .ac ).

I think you first should try to make some buildings, because it's lots easier (take a simple building, not the Notre Dam by example ;) ) than making a plane. Very important when modeling are pics. Without them is it almost impossible to make a goodlooking model. Measurements are really welcome to. Some could be guessed by looking at pictures, but you always need at least a few sizes.

For cockpits and planes there are drawings available on the internet (http://www.airliners.net) is very usefull for both drawings and pictures, but also for info about the planes).

There are some manuals at the wiki that could help you:
- http://wiki.flightgear.org/flightgear_wiki/index.php?title=Modelling_-_SketchUp
- http://wiki.flightgear.org/flightgear_wiki/index.php?title=Model_Import_and_Export

And here's a wiki page with aircraft resources:

I hope to see soon something made by you. There are always people at the forum that want and could help you when having troubles. Best way to learn moddeling is to model. So try to begin small as I said above.

Succes!

You upload it to some place else and put a link here:
Code: Select all
http://www.gidenstam.org/FlightGear/.images/Scenery/fgfs-NyaAlvsborg-292.jpg

or inline it
Code: Select all

This is one possible "some place else": http://fgfs.i-net.hu/

Cheers,

I recognize an airport in it. It's pretty basic, but I'm sure it'll be better when you do more work on it. The tower doesn't look like the one on the pictur, is it not the same?

Keep working on it, this could become very nice someday!
