I've made some low-poly vehicle models and you're welcome to use them for FG under GPL license:

Just stumbled across a collection of 9 aircraft models (F-14, F-15, F-16, F-18, F-22, F-117, AV-8, A-10, and B-2) on blendswap.com: http://www.blendswap.com/blends/weapons ... ollection/

I didn't have a look at them, but they claim to have ~1000 faces and licensed under a CC0 (public domain) license. Maybe someone can use them :)

Perfect candidates for static scenery objects or military AI aircraft.

As a rule of thumb, files with an author and a license compatible with GNU GPL, in essence allowing commercial reuse and without a requirement to be released with the same licence unless of course already GNU GPL v2, should not be a problem.

The Free Software Foundation have a page specifically dealing with the issue of licences and compatibility with GNU GPL: Various Licenses and Comments about Them. It is worth noting that FSF do not consider the Creative Commons Attribution to be GNU GPL compatible, and that they recommend to not release works as Public Domain but rather as CC0.

Hi x7cusick8x

I made some simplified models for scenes and sets. You'll find them here : http://helijah.free.fr/flightgear/meetings.htm

I think I've found another site with some GPL models (don't know for sure): http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=45665.0

Unfortunately not. There is this condition on these files:

Hi,
you can port our freeware titles over to other games, it's perfectly ok as long as you do not try to sell them.
Best regards,
Phil
AlphaSim Ltd

This is completely incompatible with the GPL. Firstly, there's no mention of the GPL, so one cannot legally put the GPL licence onto this copyrighted material. Secondly, the restriction of not selling is against the rules of the GPL (the GPL licence actually encourages selling).

The Hughes MD500E, Short Belfast, Cessna T-50 from FGUK (maybe more) are also in the list so that's why I was confused I guess, because those where released under the GPL license. :? :| Or are these models still usable under a other license?

How do you know that these are the models created by FGUK?

Just ask them. But some of their stuff is CC licensed, so beware.

Here is a example:

FGUK version with FS2004 on it (yup FS2004 used the same model). And I've added something from the FGUK site.
